Great video! I made 5 of these for less than I'd pay for a torch vaporizer! I made one modification. I cut a small square of tin flashing and drilled a 3/8" hole for the tube to go thru. That gives me a shield between the vaporizer and the hive so I don't scorch the hive!

Thank you looks cheap and easy to use . You can put a handle on it and a heat shield to protect your hive . Kick ass video and job. Thank you .

tapped mine, and hammered in a brass threaded plug, which acts as a bowl, cause its hollow, took a t and split it,it slips over the pipe, and gives my torch a place to slip onto it,has slits for flame to breathe, heats the brass bowl nicely ,thanks for the tips

Maybe drill 3 or 4 holes and place multiple vaporizers along the bottom to insure better distribution of the fumes.

Yes, I was thinking the same, split the outlet to spread it out more. Depends if you are winter treating and the size of the cluster I guess....easy to make a few of different designs....I’ll have a go. Thanks for the video, always satisfying to make rather than buy something imported from China.

Not seeing a lot of vapor is a big concern for me. How about demonstrating it in a future video and put a sticky board inside to show the mite drop.

The common problem with this approach is that acid is heated together with vaporiser. At some point, before goes to vapour, oxalic acid will start melting and that will reduce amount of vapour and efficiency. So, probably what he should do is start by turning vaporiser upside down and then heat the bottom. When bottom is enough heated put the plug with acid and quickly turnover. On this way acid will fall on enough heated bottom and start vaporising immediately. Having some temperature sensor with probe can make sure that bottom is not over heated. Over heating can be a problem as well because in that case oxalic acid produces the CO2 which can harm the bees. Temperature needs to be between 310 F and 365 F.

@@danholtbk7008 yes it has become a challenge with these mites. Devil turds don't need to be in bee colonies. I gave up beekeeping before mites came along. Now I'm back at it after many years. New problems, for sure. Bob

Do you have any problems with not getting enough oa in the hive? Its winter so don't want to do washes or take hives apart. If the vapor doesnt do its job I would not know it til it is to late

Looks like a low cost good idea but I am wondering how do you control the heat to not exceed 370 degrees F where OA breaks down and becomes useless?
