You can do this yourself....basically 700-800 cals per day of mostly non-starchy veggies. 10 cups of romaine has 100 cals. Ten cups of cabbage is 60 cals. Include 1 Tbsp. olive oil, 8 green olives and an avocado for the fats. I learned this from Sylvie Pagot's video..."Simplest and Easiest Modified Fast Diet". She also has a video for fasting on soups. This was easy for me.

As Ive been reading some of these comments I think it’s important for people to understand a few things. 1) not everyone can just water fast. For cancer (and other illnesses) food is needed for chemo medications. So not everyone can “just water fast” and other options are necessary. 2) Dr Mindy does a fantastic job of giving us tons of information for us to decide what’s right for us...do your own homework...she’s not a guru but a fantastic doc who is an excellent teacher. Thanks Doc for all you do.

Actually, there is a plenty of research pointing at fasting as a first tool to the potential recovery from cancer. No chemistry can HEAL the cancer and at the same time regenerates the body. Fasting does both of these things. There is nothing worse to push the body to use the extra energy for digestion when whole is needed to focus on recovery. What an ill body really needs is a fast and a proper ratio of electrolytes

Dr Berg has 3 interviews with people who beat cancer by long term fasting. What they talk about in the vid is if they did any chemo they fasted days before and were not sick from the chemo. So fasting heals the body for cancer patients. Look up these vids.

Dr.Longo’s original research was for how fasting enhances chemotherapy. He gave the parameters ( incl macros) in his book. Prolon was developed bc most patients had problems doing straight water fast or were nutritional unable to tolerate. He states repeatedly that how often you do the 5-Day FMD relates directly to your premorbidities/ level of health & fitness, etc. : from 2x/yr to once a month for a period. This is NOT primarily for weight loss -at all! It’s for resetting metabolism & for autophagy. The research on how the wet loss is from autophagy of your organs actually shrinking from damaged/senescent cells being cleared!… then part of wt is regained as organs regenerate as stem cells kick in! I agree that the Prolon is not natural, over-packaged & very expensive! But- think it should be mentioned, that all of his profits go directly back into research!

Thank you for all you do, Mindy! I am a CNTP and have a lot of respect for Dr. Longo as well. I tried the Prolon FMD. It was packaged beautifully and I can definitely see a segment of population who could benefit from the convenience of it. I however did not make it through the five days, finding it much easier to simply water fast. Introducing tiny bits of food throughout the day makes it impossible for me. Also, I do question being able to activate autophagy while any nutrition is present. It is my understanding that true autophagy cannot occur in the presence of nutrition. Three day water fast a couple times a year seems to be the magic bullet for me.

How about a keto or carnivore version? We need the correct macros tho. Longo is a hard-time vegan and Prolone contains a lot of crapy foods. I read too much protein (>20g/day) will put you out of autophagy. How can we adapt this fast with perhaps bone broth, fat, or? Plus, adding fat helps detox. What about adding psyllium and or charcoal (maybe coffee enemas) to assist with this further? I'm always concerned because fasting releases toxins stored in our fat, but without help expelling them they get recirculated and can end up somewhere worse (like our brain). Any longterm studies on fasting and developing Alzheimers/dementia later in life? Something to think about.

New to this world. Like your channel and delivery. Came across a video by Dr Longo where he says that it is dangerous to miss breakfast. However, this is contrary to most IF videos out there. What is your advice?
@DrMindyPelz
Жыл бұрын
Dr. Longo's perspective on breakfast likely comes from the idea of "chrononutrition" which looks at eating in alignment with our circadian rhythm. However, it doesn't mean that skipping breakfast is universally "bad". It's more about the overall eating window you choose. With intermittent fasting, many choose to skip breakfast and eat later in the day to create a fasting period. It's important to find a fasting and eating schedule that works best for your lifestyle, health goals, and how your body responds. For more personalized advice, consider joining our Reset Academy.

I just discovered your book and listened to it on an audiobook, and I am trying the intermittent fasting. My question is: does drinking a cup of bone broth break your fasting event? I have been drinking tea and coffee to squelch my hunger and it works quite nicely and also water. But I discovered that you say bone broth is good for you so I thought well let me just try some bone broth so I just need to know if that breaks fast because it matters if it’s a 16 hour fast or a 17 hour fast.

I am severely insulin resistant and still 150 pounds overweight so I do have to do more serious fasting. To that end of doing prolonged fasting I make my own veggie based fasting mimicking diet. However, my weight loss is better with plain old water fasting so on a multi day fast I water fast for a few days then have a FMD day or two. That works better for me. I then do ADF for a few weeks before doing another prolonged fast.

Three months but I can do the same thing on three-day water-only fast? Hmmm....I will do the three-day water-only fast. I just completed a 20-day water-only fast. Slowly built up my daily intake until I could eat a complete Keto meal. Took 4 days and eating again was actually more painful than anything I experienced during the long fast. Now I am doing 3 day fast to optimize autophagy doing a one-meal-a-day keto fast for several days then back on a three day fast. I will likely mix it up a little more. Why, I was diagnosed with rectal cancer. I will be exposing myself to chemo and radiation however fasting during that treatment makes cancer cells weak and strengthens good cells. I believe battling cancer has to be a multiprong attack. My Plan is to attack with Fasting/Diet, Medical Treatment and Prayer. Let me tell you this. I love long fast and I feel great.

You don't know anything about western culture only yours. No one is paying to learn to it is free information all over the internet as well as in this platform. It is a difference in people trying to make money on fasting selling books and medicine and teaching about fasting. So please get your understanding in check before making unrighteous judgement Orthodox Christian.

Sabityp Your comment didn’t require making inferences you clearly put it out there as if you were speaking from the outside looking in. You should have made it clear you’re part of western culture practicing the traditions of The Horn of Eastern Africa. Believe it or many in the western culture have insurance that helps them to go to doctor and monitor medically supervised fast which is nothing wrong with that. People in this forum do long term fasting the eastern and other cultures do religions fast that are periodic and can last up to 40 days but eating is permitted example; Just how does one fast in the Orthodox way? Fasting entails abstinence from meat, dairy products and fish - but not shellfish. There is also the strict fast, which is practiced on certain days of the year, where there is also abstinence from oil. * Most on this forum are speaking on strict long term water fasting only. Blessings to you also.

I love you(!) dr.Mindy, beautiful soul!❤️ Thank you! However I do not believe that long-term or even short-term diet is going to be entirely beneficial if we are consuming someone's dead body... All beings are equal. It is unethical in the reality we are living as well as on a spiritual/energetic level to put someone's tissue into our own. By removing meat(especially), we are able not only to slow down, but to reverse the process of aging. I am convinced🙂 There is more to each being than just a physicality

Hello Eunice, This is Debbie w/Dr Mindy's team. You should be fine taking ACV. It depends on what your fasting goals are as to whether you sould be concerned about the effects the acv might have on blood sugar. This video explains - kzitem.info/news/bejne/kpiMraptaqagjIY

Why would you think you can reach ketosis eating all those carbs in Prolon?
@cherylmks
3 жыл бұрын
I'm on 3rd day of my third time doing 5-day fast mimicking diet (FMD). I do my own FMD and exactly replicate the macros in Prolon. I get into ketosis every time by day 3. In the past I've had much more difficulty reaching ketosis on regular Keto and low carb plans (carbs @ 20-30 grams). It took days, my cortisol shot up and I couldn't sleep, my blood sugar actually increased the first few days, and I felt like complete crap. FMD taught me that I can easily get into ketosis on as much as 50 grams of carbs daily as long as protein is less than 25 grams daily (more like 20). I sleep like a baby. I think my liver is really good at gluconeogenesis and converts excess or even moderate levels of protein when carbs are low.

The fast mimicking diet just sounds like misery to me - calorie restriction. Since this guy's research only talks about it instead of actual water fasting, I am wondering if a 3 or 4 day water-only fast has the same health and longevity benefits? Or do we have to put ourselves through days of 500 calories. Why eat if you can't eat enough to feel satisfied?

Water fasting is the original fast that the fasting mimicking diet is simply striving to mimic.

Hi Just Me, This is Debbie w/Dr Mindy's support team. Dr Valter Longo, developed Fast Mimicking for very sick patients who could not or would not water only fast. Dr Longo wanted to find a way to get the health benefits of fasting while having a little food. Hope this helps. kzitem.info/news/bejne/1qmrk3t6pmplZm0

@@debbiedrmindy1338 Thanks for your reply. So, real water fasting works at least as well as this fast mimicking diet. That's what I was starting to wonder about.
