I've tried this with international friends (just one language per person at a time) when we wanted to practice different languages, and eventually we would fall back to replying in the language that person addressed you in. What Luca and Katie do in the video is actually pretty hard. But they make it look so easy. So nice!

I've been watching Easy Italian for a few yrs & this is the most English I've heard Katie speak. Didn't even know what kind of Eng accent she had (Had assumed it was a London accent for some reason.). Now I know she comes from the North (I watch the Vera series so I'm familiar w it lolol). Interesting video. Thanks!

I wouldn't say she sounds much like a northerner tho. If she was born in London maybe her parents are londoners and she got the accent from them or even from movies and tv. If she didn't say where she was raised, I doubt most people would know correct me if wrong.

Great to hear Katie's Sheffield accent! I'd love to play this game with a friend using the foreign languages I speak. It is true that it is difficult, though not impossible, to practise foreign languages in the UK. I make frequent visits to my local Italian-run coffee shop for practice! Sadly my freedom of movement in the EU has been stolen from me so I can't as easily have the same experiences living abroad as I did when I was younger.

Wow great job Luca and Katie! Since I went through Luca's Bidirectional Translation course, I 've been using the techniques to study German (about an A2 level currently), but my husband's native language is Spanish ( my level is currently about an A2/B1 level) and I want to be fluent one of these days in both Spanish and German. Sooo, I've been using Luca's suggestion of studying both languages every day, and I'm one week into doing so. The suggestion is paramount to speaking both well I think. It will be fun when I can switch back and forth between the languages as you did in your video - there's a long way to go for me, but the best part is the day-to-day improvements. How fun - keep it up! Very inspiring.

For me changing languages sometimes seems like changing an entire room where I'm staying (wouldn't want to go back in and out every second 😂 ). That's a cool idea. Some people think you shouldn't mix languages but if you want to learn and maintain several of them, and use them in social situations with a group of international people, you should be able to jump from language to language in conversation.

Hahah. Nopes!!! This is one thing I can not do - control which language I am using when fast switching. Years ago, I had a Bolivian-Japanese bestie and when we got excited we would just run through English, Spanish and Japanese, confusing everybody nearby. However, I have never been good at intentionally switching - reason number one why I avoid interpreting like the plague.

Very impressive! native English speaker here and I found that trying to learn Spanish and French at the same time that my pronunciation got mixed up in both. Just trying to adjust to three different ways to say similar words such as function/fonction/función and failing. My theory is you need a certain level of fluency to not mix them up. That is why I'm concentrating on Spanish for now.

Ciao Luca :) I was wondering and, not sure if you address this in another video or your blog. but how can we let go of languages and not have the guilt tear at us? I know of course you speak so many =) But for me, I know that I need and want - a smaller list shall we say, my problem is how do i decide what those languages are and the problem i h ave is - I have this problem of so many languages that I started studying in the past and now feel obligated to keep them. I have a hard time knowing what to do about this =(
