Here is some more footage of what is my favorite ASL in EJs fleet. I love its odd engine sound and how well it looks and runs. I found a sub driver running it quite fast and noticed that the lighting was also exceptional so I grabbed this footage. Even though it was almost 2 years ago now, this is definitely my favorite video I have of this unit. It was also cool to see the driver kinda vibing out to some music as he worked. You can see him moving to the beat in a couple shots.
Once the quintessential Socal truck, practically every single hauler operating at least one, Volvo Amreps are getting more and more difficult to find as time passes. One exception to this is EJ Harrison. After initially retiring 2 of their Volvos in early 2022 they seem intent on keeping the remaining ASLs going for now although they will be phased out eventually, albeit most as spares. 203 is an exception to the spare rule, being a 5 day a week truck for routes all over Ventura county. I don't know where 203 works all the time but I know it works near Ojai one day and does Ventura another. The driver mentioned he was running a bit behind on his route and chose to put the 23 year old Volvo hard at work to try and catch up. Easily the loudest i’ve heard this truck revved out of the 3 times I’ve filmed it. Hopefully Harrison decides to hold onto 203 a bit longer as it surely has life left in it, and is in better shape than some of the other Volvos although all seem to be in great shape for their age still.
Thanks to the driver for letting me grab some video!!
