made it look soo easy haha. i literally no joke was just given this as a birthday present yesterday brand new. such an amazing quality saw. But today it would not start and i spent awhile. i made sure its getting spark, and the thing flooded some how. tried leaning out the air low speed screw because i feel like it was getting too much fuel. but no change. now im probably going to have to bring it back to the dealer and find out what happened. because i havent even used it yet. just started it yesterday and then shut it off and planned to test it today. Who knows well see. but forsure like the quality.

Hey Review Guy, I kept forgetting to turn it on because my old unit would automatically turn on when pulling out the choke. Here's what to do to clear the unit if it's flooded. Pull the spark plug, push the choke in, then pull the chord until no more gas sprays out. Then put plug back in and go through the normal starting process. Hope this helps. :)

@@brianmcdrummer Thanks, i did that and just for added measure i put a couple drops of motor coat since i hate the plug out cuz its really good lubricant. and soon as i put the plug back in and yanked the cord for the first time it started and then died. yanked again and it immediately fired. thanks again !

Thank you for this tip -----I bought and used this saw for a whole day and ran like a champ - its a bit heavy but its a beast. Plan on clearing some additional trees this weekend, so I thought I would get the saw out to make sure she cranked. Went through the procedure of cranking and after 20 pulls was a little wore out - would not crank - looked down and BAM - the saw was in the off position - tried another 20 pulls using the correct starting procedure - NO crank - sucks! Did a youtube search - found your comment - went back to the garage - pulled the spark plug - pulled on cord 15 times (super easy with no plug), put a paper towel over the spark plug hole turned the saw upside down back and forth a few times. reinstalled the spark plug. flipped the switch to on with no choke --------BAM ----- started like a Champ ! NOTE to SELF - Turn on Chainsaw first !!! -- BTW - good informative video - worth a LIKE!

The fastest way to cut down a tree is to start with a stump. :) This works, until it don't. After a few years (of leaving fuel in the carb) it gets more finicky. Tricks if it gets flooded: turn the choke off, fix the throttle full on (with tape or a rubber coated wire wrap) and pull it 20-30 times until it "un-floods", or pull the plugs and pull the cirds 4-6 times full choke until it stops spraying fuel. (Cover the plug hole with a clean cloth or paper towel or you may get sprayed a little). These flood relatively easily. There is a "carb adjustment" fix but I didnt buy a chainsaw to pull the carb, remive factiry parts and hopefully tune by ear a chainsaw I didnt manufacture. They need a bit more air from my reads. Over n out

Don’t know about you guys, but on mine I make sure the switch is set to run, pull out the choke, pull one time, put choke back in, pull it, and it fires up. Anything more will flood it. It doesn’t need much choke. Have never used the decomp button.

Jon Greene, You, are my hero! I decided to follow your advice first because my CS590 was flooding like crazy and that is following ECHO's EZ start guide. I tried it this morning, workshop was around 50° and the thing started on the 4th pull. Subsequent starts, usually restarted in 1 pull. Yesterday I pulled so many times my shoulder got bruised. Thanks for helping this 69 year old kid.

I bought one these week(May2021). Took it back, would not start cold with out a major fight. Never ever got that wanting to start sound. After 30 minutes of fighting it it would start. Then started with one pull when hot. Next day would not start cold, tested several times. It had decent power when you could get it to start. To old to fight with a new machine to start it.

Don't get me wrong, anybody can get a bad one from the box. I guess a pretty common issue with the CS-590 is if you try to start them with the ignition switch off they are a bear to start until you get it running again. Another guy on here made a video, he said basically drain the fuel, pull the spark plug, put a couple drops of 2 cyl oil on the piston, replace spark plug, don't use the compression release, crank until it wants to go, add fuel, fire it up. it may start on what fuel is in the system. Want to know why I'd have interest in this? lol When I had my personal dumba** attack and didn't flip the switch to on... When I got done cussing, first the saw, then myself, I just didn't use the compression release. I went 5ish pulls with choke on then 5ish choke off, back and forth. I think it fired first with choke on. It has ran and started perfect ever since, I now kill it, then flip the switch back to on, and still check it kind of automatically. I didn't do other guy's process, but it is valid. I think a shot of fogging oil down the barrel of the carb, then not using the compression release would be as effective. If you haven't taken it back yet, hope it helps. They are a darn good saw for the money, that carb just is just really a good design that it drys instead of flooding if the plug isn't firing, then evidently it doesn't make enough pulse in the crank to run the pump/diaphram. Good thing under most conditions. I'm not a fan boy, got a relatively new one that has a squeak in the clutch or brake, probably gunk, but going to take it in as to not void the warranty. I just cut and pasted this, not going to type it all out again.

I won't know for sure until I play around with my new 590 but I don't like how many hard start videos exist for this saw. Hopefully it's not an issue for me. I tried to start this saw (CS 590) using your steps. I flipped the on/off switch up to the on position, pulled out the choke, pushed in the black button on the top of the saw, pulled the cord 40x and the button never pops back up. There is a small smell of gas. What should I do?

Here are the steps to use if the unit is flooded. Remove the spark plug wire, remove the spark plug, push the choke in, and pull the cord until no gas comes out of the spark plug chamber. Then follow the steps in my video to start the chainsaw. If that doesn’t work you may need to take the unit in for service. 😊 Here's a video to explain how to clear a flooded chainsaw. kzitem.info/news/bejne/qKNmvKqZeoh5eZg

I removed the sparkplug and the carb to remove the adjusting caps I leaned out the low setting put it back together and pulled 2 times the saw started but would die too lean so I put the setting to the factory and the saw started... I bought this saw on Saturday. Used it for the first time today. Cutting up a couple of pine trees that came down in the storm. It ran through the first tank of fuel like a champ. I could not start it after a I filled it with a second tank of fuel. This is the first chainsaw I have owned without a priming bulb. I'm not sure what I did wrong. I bought the fuel this morning and mixed it 50:1 with oil I bought with the chainsaw. Can you please pass along any advice or knowledge you gained from your dealership visit? Thanks!
