Within 10 minutes of their reply that I got within 24 hours, I had an address (somewhat locally) to send them to, to get fixed for free. Sorry, But I couldn't praise Aomways customer service any more.I had bought my V1's and had them a month. Like an idiot, I left them plugged in when I put them in my case and in my bag. The right LCD had got spots in it. I hit up Aomway, and explained that I had broken it, and if there was anyway they could sell me the LCD module only. They sold me the LCD for ~40-50 bucks shipped. No questions about my ability to install it or anything. Honestly, could you imagine going to Apple and asking them for a new screen, but you would install it yourself? Such a good look for them and the whole right to repair movement. The ability to buy OEM parts from manufacturers is sooo cool.

640 X 400 is the old 16:10 screen ratio. It was used for the first widescreen computer monitors. One of the reasons for this ratio is they assumed people wanted room for the play bar to be in screen at all times, and most players wouldn't hide the play par at the time.they kept it around for 4-5 years until they just went 16:9 as the standard for all screens. Why they brought it back for this is weird.

FS probably got a super-discount deal on a truckload of weird-aspect-ratio OLED's and thought "hey, let's slap them in a really old design, give 'em a new color scheme, and call it innovation"...! I know FS has the good CS reputation, but c'mon, they updated them to OLEDs and STILL couldn't be bothered with a simple power switch, and direct-wiring the fan? Thought that's probably because then it would really highlight these same shortcomings in their $500 goggles! I'm surprised by their complacency in the face of the new competition in this price range... If Eachine had halfway decent CS, it'd be EV200D all the way.

HD V1 still going strong, I to have a wide IPD and couldn't live with the narrower IPD of the newer goggles. I wish FS would come out with a wider IPD for any new goggles and I'd be first in line even though my HD V1 still work, you should always have a good backup pair of goggles IMO. I have a old pair of attitudes and Base goggles which I just love the feel of the rubber case and compact feel, only down side is no DVR. Thanks for the review 👍

Still got my V4's never wanted to upgrade. Got em at a killer price. $200 used with inductrix fpv pro. Best purchase I've made and got a free inductrix with em. Since then I bought a tru-d module and a couple good antennas and haven't wanted anything better. I think these guys with $600 to drop on every new set of goggles are spoiled brats.

I really like my Spektrum Focal DVR's, which are actually made by Fatshark. They don't seem to be well known, but they have a native wide screen aspect ratio that you can choose to cut down to 4:3 to suit your camera's aspect ratio. I haven't found any other module-compatible goggle that can do that. I think I paid $370 for them.

thanks for sharing bud and i agree its great that fatshark put these at a 300 dollar price point because i finally can afford a pair without my wife freaking out.but i have to say i got the EV 100's thankfully before all the fat shark users started bashing them because for a whole year after maybe 3 flights getting used to them i flew almost everyday and of course i got dvr module and never had a bit of trouble from them and i could see everything perfectly. but one of the voltage regulators burned up on me and i couldnt get a new board or even get a returned email or anything. so customer service is very important to me now and worth the extra money. i hope that i love these v5 goggles as much as i did the EV100's because im ordering some tomorrow.thanks again JB

This is a brilliant product I think. I agree, the module and antennas is more important! I am in love with my HDO, but the FOV is at the limit for my anatomy. I have HPHD also, with the crazy 72 degrees, but that is only good for cruising with a plane or something, also has focus issues for presbyopics. 30 FOV degrees is fine, I flew at 32 degrees for like 7 years. I payed them, tomorrow Ill ask if it has gone through and if they have processed the replacement already. Tldr: Aomways customer service is kind of slow but good.

dom v3: 800x480 pix (~16x9.6), 30fov att v5: 640x400 pix (~16x10), 30fov pretty close aspect ratio, so the att v5s are probably best suited to a 16:9 cam (e.g. RC micro eagle, Foxeer monster micro pro or mini pro v3).

Finally, a positive for EV200D’s! 😁 Thanks for this balanced review, I think the V5 Quirky screen size is a deliberate compromise to appeal to both FPV racers and acro pilots? I have the EV200D’s and love them, I tried lots of different goggles before buying and Settled on them as they were the best for me at the time and not just because of the price. All goggles so far are a compromise no matter how much you spend on them? I agree 4:3 for racers, but for me 16:9 for acro, not just flying, also mentally framing your video as you fly around and when you come to edit it’s pretty close to what you have just flown. The fact that Fat Shark has made the V5's is proof that people like Eachine, Aomway are a good Thing in the hobby, as it benefits everyone. (better quality and more affordable products).

I used to use my Aomway V1 in 4:3 mode which cut off the edges of its 32 degree 16:9 screen so a 30 degree FOV on a screen closer to 4:3 should be very decent IMO. Also OLED screens are so nice especially if you like good CMOS cams like the Runcam Eagle or Foxeer Falkor, I love my HDO screens. As far as Aomway support goes don’t bother, my Commander googles have a non working DVR because it’s impossible to get aftermarket parts and support is pretty much non existent. I would snap these goggles up over others in the same price bracket, they will have a better resale value too.

The problem buying EV200D in Brazil is geting a sub par unit with the screen problens and lens alignemet common to this goggle, or even a DOA pair. You will not be able to send then back for replacement because shipping will be to high. By the reviews these problems are more common on this than other that have better quality control, and Eachine don't sell replacement parts. Are these worth upgrading for style and space savings if nothing else? I’ve got a pair of box goggles that I like, but they are like 5 years old, and were like $80 new back then. I have 0 complaints after modifying them, picture is great (like 5x better than when I tried my friends Fatshark 2 or 3), and they get signal through anything on even my 25mW micro quads for ridiculous range on regular clover antennas. BUT, they are box goggles, and they just look kinda stupid... Not that average joe non FPV is going to think your not some weirdo or perv wearing hello kitty fatsharks (Mr Steele just... yeah that look just looks bad), since the media makes “drones” look bad in every way, what’s the best way to protect our hobbies image? I plan on setting up my laptop to show live video feed (in case people are interested, particularly joggers or something, then they can stop by and watch on a big screen to spectate for curiosity, I’ll also have a whoop with auto-level if anyone wants to try out FPV), but I’d like something super ridiculously small so I can store 2 quads/transmitter/goggles/laptop/a half dozen packs in a backpack with extra props (which I can do, I fly micros, but it gets crowded!) Would it be worth $300 just for slightly less space and less “weird” factor? I don’t know... I can certainly afford them, but it’s just hard to know for sure without actually testing them since my goggles work so well as they are (I think the modern equivalent is like EV800 or something, the picture looks much nicer than what this review is showing, but since fatsharks have duel screens it makes it a little hard to compare. Great contrast and color quality on mine, only single receiver but it seems to work beyond controller range, so controller is getting boosted soon!) Or should I upgrade from my FS i6 to save space? The gamepad looking controllers might be a good too... Suggestions welcome! Items in backpack: GT R349 (strapped to outside) plus 4x batteries 65mm whoop plus 8 batteries and charger 65mm cheap auto-level whoop with its tiny remote for anyone walking by to try out FSi6 plus external 2200 mAh lipo Box goggles with external 2200 mAh Lipo A dozen spare props inch thick laptop I plan to ride my bicycle to flying locations, so space is at a premium!
