Here is my initial impression of the new FatShark Scout goggles and some field testing. This is not an in depth review, it is just me giving my honest feedback about how well the goggles work or don't work for me and comparing them to my other box goggles.
For the past two and a half years I have been using a pair of very large box goggles (Quanum Fatshark Genesis). They were the first pair I ever owned and figured I would eventually upgrade to something better. Well here we are and I have still not found anything that works as well for me.
One quick note about the DVR files created by the Scout goggles. When I try to open them with VLC or quicktime I get errors or the program crashes. I can preview them on my Mac with QuickLook and they also open just fine in Final Cut. Final Cut says the files are 720x480 59.94p avc1 video and AAC audio. I can't hear any audio in Final Cut but I can hear the audio when uploaded to Google Drive. You can download the raw recording sample here:

**UPDATE**
After using the goggles a bit more, I found another annoyance. The auto shutoff feature is cool and all, but I guess I hold my head too still while using them and they start to beep, warning me they are about to shut off. After about 2 1/2 minutes of flight they start to beep. They have not shut off on me yet and this feature can be disabled, but I think I just figured out what the mystery beep was.
