Here is the link to the workshop manual page on the heated seats - this mentions the self diagnose process that i was trying to get to work in the video - but failed workshop-manuals.com/landrover/l322-a/seats/seat_heating/fault_finding/

Good luck trying to read anything on workshop-manuals.com! They've taken advertising to such an extreme as to render their website entirely useless, sadly.

Another truly helpful video. You guys are mega! The hardest thing about working on a Range Rover is finding what matters in their manuals. Sorting through all the different versions is a PITA. Your videos show how simple they are to work on and easy to repair once you know where to use your spanners and screw drivers, etc. Absolutely mega. Thank you.

cool - or rather HOT ! I think first thing to check is the resistance of the thermocouple... this is what tells the seat its too hot !

Hi Guys, Nice little video There is an easier/alternative way to check the heated pads to find out why the lights 1, are not coming on, 2 coming on and going off. Continuity test. If you have a fault then our process is. 1. Test at yellow plug. If you get a bleep then the issue is not on the seat but in the cars loom. You can always check the wire integrity by moving the wires, pressing the seat on the heated pad areas to see if there is a possible break. 2. Unplug the connecters from the base pad to the back, thus isolation the base pads only and the back pad(s) only 3. Continuity check of the base pad only. If you get a beep then the base pad is ok. 4. Continuity check the back pad. If you have more than one plug test each one. If you get bleeps on all wires then its ok and the same as point 1 above. Let’s say the middle back pad (not the side bolsters) does not return a bleep. This would point to the reason why the heated seats are not working. As the guys in the video have mentioned, you can get a break in the wires that go from the base to the back. This part flexes, not only when tilting seat back and forwards but also when you get in and out. The way to check this wire is to put the probes on the heated pad elements where the wires from the back plug comes from and goes into the pad. Doing this will isolate the pad only and not the wire that feeds it. If you do not get a bleep then the pad has an issue. You can then check the wires going to the pad ( the ones you have just bypassed) and you get a bleep, then this just confirm that the wires feeding the pad are ok and it’s the pad that had the issue. Now, these elements are sewn into the seat covers and without a bit of know-how and at times a sewing machine you cannot remove or replace them. But, you can actually fault find the exact area and repair the break in the pad without the need to replace the whole cover. It’s a little more in depth and easier to do a video so ill leave that for now. Also there can be two types of pad. (both types can be fitted on one seat as well) 1. Just like your electric blanket (but with thinner wires) When one of these very thin wires break, you will get a heated pad issue (but it can be fixed) 2. Carbon pads These never go wrong and if it does it’s the wires that feed the carbon that are the issue. Obviously you would have checked fuses etc etc before looking at the seat. Anyway, great vid guys, love your work, kit, products. Keep it up.. Regards…BL

@@jimes256 Hi, not that I know of. L322 seats + Electrics was a BMW design. So the same as in the e46, some e39 models etc. IF you have heated seats then within the yellow plug holder you will have a black plug ( far right). Never known it to be separate unless someone retrofitted some? ...BL

Hi, really useful video. I'm retro fitting RR L322 seats into my 110. Could you assist with the wiring for the heated seat. There are 4 wires, brown, black, and 2 x green white. I m trying to connect the g/w wires to a 3 way switch (hi, off, low). But not sure which is which. Do 2 wires go to hi, and 1 wires for low or 1 for hi and 1 for lo??

Thank you for all the videos, they help so many l322 and RR owners. I have a question and if it possible to anser i would be glad. So I have 2004 Range Rover l322, and left part of my driver seat heaters was burned. When i push the seat heater button, it goes on then after 5sec it turns it self off. After first try, when i turn it on again it closes it self in 1 or 2 sec. It has seperate plugin so i can easly cancel that part (left corner side). But when i cancel that part, circulation stays open (i guess) so it is not working that way either and make the same fault again. Here is the question, if i make a bridge and close the circuit is it work (with out burned part) ? And is it dangerous to do this, do i damage some cables ?

@@L663 I own a L322 after the BMW era (2007) and that one is asking a lot as well. Also driven lots of E39 with same engines, gearboxes etc, never had any issue. But hey, its a hobby so who cares. I'm in love with my L322 and both already lots of parts at your webshop. So, mine will be just fine when I'm done (and broke).
