The hardest part of this project is getting the 'leading" on the glass in the detailed areas. I actually found a product at Hobby Lobby called "simulated liquid leading" by Plaid Gallery Glass. This replaces the glue and black stain that Hanna mixes up. This simulated lead worked well, but I thought the flow was a little thick and hard to control in those tight areas. I would recommend trying Hanna's system first as I suspect the glue bottle would have a thinner flow and might be easier to squeeze and control than the larger bottle the simulated lead product came in. I am waiting on the leading to dry and am anxious to start painting color. Another tip I picked up on another site was swirling your colors together in larger spaces on the glass to mimmck the textures you see on real stained glass. Loved this project!

Is the Sharpie needed when you could just apply the faux leading directly?

Thank you for sharing. Question, instead of varnishing the painted side, would it not look better on the reverse (and see the paint through the glass) and simply add black lines on the other side as well?

I may be a bit dense but I couldn't find where you can purchase the stained glass design. I went to the Audrey Rose Collection....what did I miss? Great work by the way, I just ordered a whole kit and so excited to get 'leading and staining!'

Do you know this is a great idea because if you want to make a real Stainglass window and solder it and you’re not sure how it would look, you can make an example like this before you invest in all the work it does to make a reall State glass, so I think this is a fantastic idea and a way to get your children involved you thank you what an amazing video

Ranger alcohol inks are not known to be sunlight resistant. Do you know if adding them to glue lengthens the life of the color?

Gallery Glass stain glass paint at Hobby Lobby has all sorts of colors for faux stained glass. About $3 a bottle.

Good to hear HL is stocking it again. Michaels has some but not all of the colors. I have worked with GG before and love it. I'm told that it will fade if exposed to direct sunlight. I was asking if the alcohol ink faded. BTW Pebeo has an excellent product for faux stained glass called Vitrail. I put it on glass cabochons, baked and they have been on a garden art piece for 2 years without fading. Stuff is a lot more expensive than alcohol ink though. Thanks again - Happy Crafting.

To color the glue, you can also use acrylic paints.
