Nettle and Bone was definitely my favorite book last year, but I also really liked Emily Wilde's Encyclopedia of Faeries and Tress of the Emerald Sea.

If you like the sentient house theme, Ilona Andrews' Innkeeper Chronicles is a fun one. The main character inherits an inn, which in this world acts as a safehouse for intergalactic beings that need to hide from the rest of the human world while visiting Earth. The house can shift into anything she wants it to be and obeys her as a means to keep visitors comfortable.

100% agree on The Anthropocene Reviewed. The audiobook is fantastic and it's surprisingly moving. As a nature lover, the chapter on the Hawaiin bird really got me with the recordings of the bird call.

Thanks for posting! I added a bunch to my list from this. I read For the Wolf when it wss released and then read For the Throne the week it was released. I found For the Throne was not as good but it was still a pretty decent book.

Yay! I’m enjoying this channel a lot! Your recommendations are really solid (currently loving NK Jemisin’s Broken Earth 3ogy, about halfway through the third book & it’ll be so bittersweet to finish it…). Thanks! ☮️💜📚

The Anthropocene Reviewed has been on my TBR for awhile now. I really should try and read it this year. 🤔 The Adventures of Amina Al-Sirafi by Shannon Chakraborty (BoTM pick, yet to be read), Nettle & Bone by T. Kingfisher is an arc I still need to read (I'm horrible).Thistlefoot (also BoTM, BaBa Yaga reimaging is what caught my attention). For the Wolf, also on my TBR. Kaikeyi, again, on my TBR. Wow. I'm horrible with my TBR. 😂

I finally read Nettle and Bone this month and I can't believe it took me so long to get to it because I'm obsessed. The lack of fanart hurts me deeply.

Hobb has a talent for writing characters who I love and feel for so much ... and also for characters who I hate with every fiber of my being. Idk the last time someone made me as angry as Kyle Haven did

Did you hear about Hugo's controversy? Sounds like because it was in China that they got a bunch of nominations blocked because they were against their "norms and standards" for conduct
@ThoughtsOnTomes

Yes 😑 not surprised. People were suspecting that happened when noms came out and even back when the location was announced people were afraid the awards would be messed with.
