Weird I just finished Educated yesterday and I cannot shake it. What a life story. Also, your description of Sometimes I Lie - the most twists and turns ever! - is pushing me to read it next.

I’m so glad you reread Jane Eyre and fell in love with that story! I have loved it since childhood mainly because I always had an affinity for tragedies (no clue why I was just so dramatic my barbies had consumption before I even knew what that was) lol!! I loved Jane as an impetuous child, I railed against her moral stiffness but admired it all the same. I cried and was so happy at the end. It’s a fabulous story and I’m doing Jane Eyre July’s where I reread it and a few retellings as well. I ran out of time last July so I’m extending it as Jane Eyre January so I can finish it (she’s ran away from the wedding and is desolate and passed out on a doorstep currently). I’m also reading Jane_E friendless orphan which is a retelling along with Ove and The God Game. I’ve got to finish all of these this month and stop reading so many at the same time lol!!!!

It’s such a wonderful story! I’m currently reading the confessions of Franny Langton Which is apparently a Jane Eyre retelling if Jane Eyre was black during the time of slavery.

Oh Gone Girl is one of my favorite books. I remember reading this and in the part where some of the twists were being unraveled, I was screaming excitedly. Yeah, that is such an awesome read. I never enjoyed Gillian Flynn's other books but I love this one.

Hi - new to your channel and I am enjoying finding new things to read and I went out right away and bought several of your suggestions! However, The Turn of the Key, I had to return. The video stalking was a really visceral trigger for me. By the time Sandra and Bill left the house for their trip about 1/3 into the book, I was SO upset: that was the end of it for me. I know this video is already 9 months old, but for anyone who is considering picking this up, I thought it was important for me to put that out there. Thank you very much for giving space for comments and I do enjoy watching very much!

I’ve been meaning to read Wild Swans from your intro for a few months! Hopefully I’ll get to it this year! Love this wrapup - I love Gone Girl so much! The film is so good too. You’ve also made me want to reread Jane Eyre! If you liked The Handmaid’s Tale, maybe give Alias Grace a go? I liked that one even more. Really interesting to hear your insights on rereading THT after your experiences! Educated is something I’ve been meaning to get to for ages and one of my goals for 2020 is to read more non-fiction! Hope this year is a great one for you! Xx

The Handmaids Tale is on my January TBR! I’m nervous because it’s so hyped. I’ve struggled with infertility but I’m also currently pregnant so we’ll see how my perspective is!
@GettingHyggeWithIt

Well I think reading it with that perspective in mind is almost the most interesting way to read that book. That’s how I reread it and it really added this different layer that not a lot of people can say that they have. Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Also if you think of the handmaid’s tale as more of a modern classic than a super hyped book that might help a bit.

Jane Eyre is one of my favorites of all time - I need to reread it. My favorites of 2019 include The Bookish Life of Nina Hill, The Overdue Life of Amy Byler, and A Constellation of Roses - all of which surprised me at how much I loved them. Educated is on my TBR for 2020.

I love the Handmaid's Tale so much, read it this year for the first time and I'm already looking forward to rereading it. But... Pet Sematary, it made me so uncomfortable that I truly hated the experience! (It's not the book, it's me).

I hated The Handmaid's Tale the first time I picked it up. That was in the early 2000s, I think I was 23 or 24. I can't believe that was before dystopian novels became popular in my circle of friends. A friend loved it but I couldn't relate to it. I am struggling with infertility myself so I may reread this now that I'm in my late 30s. I am even enjoying The Witcher because of Yennefer's infertility arc.
