Footage taken during a visit to the Fawley Hill Railway in May 2023. The railway belonged to the late Sir William McAlpine, and runs in the grounds of his estate near Henley-on-Thames.
We arrived just as ex-BR Class 03 D2120 is shunted out of the station, to make way for the Hudswell Clarke 0-6-0ST. Interestingly, the Hudswell Clarke had turned a 110 years old, having been built in 1913. As can be seen, it still puts in a good days work hauling stock up one of the steepest railway inclines in the UK, at 1 in 13.
Lastly, a trip from the station and back is filmed from the preserved ZUV 'Shark' ballast brake van, with the Hudswell Clarke as traction.
