I remember There was a firefighter kids tape featuring engine 16 and ladder 7. Everything looks the same as in the 1993 video minus the trucks lol

I know the video you are referencing. My family and I now own that truck. 8802. She was E16 then she became foam 95. Any history or stories that anyone can share with me that would be great to include with her restoration. Its nice to see someone else remembers that video🙂

E16/L7 have some nice quarters. Cozy, with lots of plants and friendly neighbors seems like.

Many EMS vehicles stay at the hospitals they are working out of and others will go to designated stands located throughout their service area

Is it normal for fire engines to respond to "regular" medical incidents in the states? Like the incident mentioned in the description. In my neighborhood (Bavaria), fire trucks are only called in addition to ambulances should the situation require it, i.e. if a person has to be extracted from a car wreck or an inaccessible building. Other than that, the business of EMS and Fire are strictly separate :-) Do US fire engines carry medical equipment like AED or invasive tools and drugs? Thanks! Greetings from a German EMS guy ;-)

Not sure for US but in Canada, firefighters are the first responders for any medical emergencies.

Alexander Raab In the US most departments do respond to medical emergencies. All fire apparatus carry medical supplies and the firefighters are also trained as EMR’s, EMT’s or Paramedics. The reason behind this is the fire department usually gets to the scene before the ambulance

Yeah alot of departments use engine company's as the 1st due on Basic Life Support (BLS) incidents, though some departments run engines with Advanced Life Support (ALS) capability. Some departments use truck company's instead for this duty, and a few use rescue company's. Generally the job is the same: arrive and stabilize for the ambulance. Given most US departments have their own EMS units, an ambulance usually isn't far behind.

What’s a box an apartment complex, neighbour? Not familiar with that term and noticed they used it a lot here

It comes from the olden days of the FDNY before everyone and their brother had a phone, the FDNY used to use call boxes on the street. So the "box" is where that callbox is located, and that terminology has persisted to this day to describe a general area of the district.
