I have been to Lake Wobegone! Saw the grain elevator, stopped at the Side Track Tap, and almost traded my car at Bunson Motors- then I woke up.

It was a Halloween show in the 1990s. 1996 think.

A literary diamond - a treasure - my children now in their twenties remember hearing Garrison’s Lake Wobegon stories in our blue family van and recognized this same voice through a tiny radio on the set of The Wire - which I’m sure was no accident and a wonderful detail my children caught 15-20 years later. I missed it and they rewound it for me and there was the voice of an American Storyteller. I had no idea Garrison’s voice would trigger what my children called a neat memory I completely forgot. I can’t think of a better validation for the sublime strength of Lake Wobegon news - where every week has been quiet. Peace and loving company for every family who lost a loved one through a form of violence that has been made patently too easy. For the rest of us, be grateful we have not lost someone through the insanity of violence. Not trying to be a downer but if we claim to love our country we might do a better job of not making gun violence so wholesale easy here. These fellow Americans are as sacred as these stories. Genuine peace with every loved one and even those of us not always so easy to love…😊😊😊🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸😇😇😇❤️❤️❤️

If you're asking about the date this monologue was broadcast, unfortunately, I don't know. I've been trying to find that out - but no luck so far. Thank you for your interest.

Tara wasn't the plantation in Streetcar. Stella and Blanche grew up at Belle Reve plantation.
