There had been not only a few at that times wanting to write in the constitution that slavery has to be an inalienable human right. As France did 1789.

Very interesting, enlightening, and timely. Hopefully we can be better than our founders envisioned, but they sure were right about the detrimental consequences of politicized government.

This was a fascinating and disturbing discussion about our forefathers and their views on slavery, our nation;'s horrible, original sin. I always that it odd that they drafted a document that was so much about freedom yet didn't mention slavery.

A while ago, I came across an article about the income disparity between White and Black families in America. Black families had an average net worth of $17,000 while Whites had $ 177,000. I know that since the 60's we have had a variety of poverty programs that were ineffective in helping the majority of blacks to move into the middle class. Having a Black History month or naming a street after MLK did fix the problem. Whites have benefited from inherited wealth. Very few Blacks had that advantage. I believe that it is time we look into reparations. Enough money that would put Black families on a more equal financial footing. Enough to buy a home, start a business, raise their children and send them to college. Likewise reparations for Native Americans. Yes, it would be expensive; however, Trump's mismanagement of the pandemic is estimated to cost 16 trillion dollars. Somehow we will cope with that loss.

@@richardt1792 Interesting take on how we can look the other way at Trumps’ flagrant mismanagement of national $$ and very true. Obama would have been more than a good President if it wasn’t for the Dem/Republican and White Black issues. Shalom

@@richardt1792 I think we are so far into thisDisparage that there's no fixing it at all. You would have to fix the minds of those who don't want to see it happen And that's gonna really take a whole lot of fixing. The only way that it can be fixed is separate but completely equal. Meaning you don't have to go and apply to live in some white neighborhood where they don't want you to live at. You can have a neighborhood that's equal in value For those of color. This time with laws written to stop Those who burned down these neighborhoods & businesses in the past from ever doing so ever again. My sister lives in an affluent neighborhood in Maryland, and it is all People of color And the homes are absolutely beautiful, the lawns are kept and everything, and there aren't any caucasians living there. Not that anyone is trying to keep them out, but they don't live there. It is possible for people of color to have affluent neighborhoods. Some white people are never going to accept black people or people of color to mix and mingle amongst them. A lot of them who are rich pay a lot of money to make sure they don't have to. These are the ones who are trying to change our laws.

I may be alone in this, but one of the reasons I'm ENTHRALLED with this convo is bc I'm learning that the USA has not been as shiny as I believed it was til I started paying close attn in 2016. And I thot USA was ESPECIALLY shiny in the very early days bc I only knew what I was told in text/by teachers (being held to stick to certain curriculum 'n' all). It's seemed like we are in such an unprecedented, downhill spiral from which we cannot rise out of,or even slow down. Turns out, we've had LOTS of times and we're still here. I mean, I still believe USA will implode or be absorbed by another country (China?) W/in the next 40yrs max, but I'm not NEARLY as sure as I was an hour ago.

Can't imagine any Chinese want to deal with creatures as Cruz, Hawley, Mccarthy, MacConnell, Gosar, deSatanos, Gaetz, Abott and comrades. But this bunch of gangsters imagines a country with themselves as a master race. There's no God to beware of this. The people has to send them to hell! 🙁🙄🤪😬😵 😜

Interesting. Hearing how these guys felt about their work after they've seen it in action, nice. It's a miracle that we stayed kinda intact for this long. Appears we're living through this dilemma again or is it we never stopped playing the game our founders started.
