@@arautus I've played Pickleball. It's not as good as tennis by almost every conceivable measure, and the "exceptional pros" are just earning an easy paycheck because it's so much harder to survive on the ATP/WTA. Regardless, my problem is not with individuals - Jack Sock is welcome to get his bag. Whatever. No, my problem is with the recalcitrant tennis culture that refused to adapt over many decades and make it easier for normies to play. Now we have this truly dumb, but well-funded social phenomenon of Pickleball which is enabling the slow eradication of public tennis courts in my city and in cities all across the country. So you'll forgive me if I refrain from calling it "great." It's absolutely not great. Not at all.

Sock could have won that match if he could have been more patient. The key in that match is that Staksrud had much more patience and did not hit the ball so abruptly like Sock did. A couple of shots like that would be good enough to determine the result of the whole match.

@@arautus In 2024 it is a close race between the two, with Staksrud winning. In the PPa tour for Men's Singles in 2024 Ben has 3 golds, 0 silver, 0 bronze. Staksrud has 3 golds, 6 silver, 0 bronze. Thus Staksrud is ranked higher this year because he has more wins than Ben. Agreed that Ben has the best record and is considered the GOAT. Just pointing out that in 2024, Staksrud is doing better.

Two tennis players playing PB. Jack Sock gaining weight and still taking over PB. LOL. The thing is that in any racquet sport there is a level of hand skills that comes with years and hundreds of hours playing. You see this level of high dexterity in tennis, table tennis, racquetball, squash, etc.. What's sad is that among PB 'pro's you see players who obviously don't have this level of dexterity. That's why the best PB players are usually tennis players.

All these knocks about Sock and Tennis. Realize that Federico Staksrud also is a former Tennis player and coach. He played played Tennis at UNO about 2 miles from where I live in New Orleans. Both of these guys are excellent to make it this far and Federico is the more complete player in 2024. Jack Sock improves by leaps and bounds from year to year and with time I believe he will start winning these tournaments.
