As a 13 yr old kid in rural England in 1978, a Mayfair ( gentleman’s monthly magazine) piece on the band with its photos showing Fee on stage was the most outrageous thing I’d seen in music. Sure Johnny Rotten & Co on Top of the Pops a year before was cool as but The Tubes were just shocking what with Fees’ boots & tool…! Didn’t see them actually in action till years later doing Wild Women on a C4 show ironically called The Tube. They didn’t disappoint .

In the early '80s The Tubes showed up very late to a gig at the Kabuki nightclub in San Francisco. We were getting a little restive and the promoter very nervous! When The Tubes arrived they made it up to us by buying a round for the entire house - Fee announced that all drinks were on him during the next song, and he played a long one!

Great upload, thanks. I noticed it was mentioned that they did a lot of shows with David Bowie. I wish they had focused a bit more on that. Was that because Bowie liked the Tubes? Would be interesting to know

I really love Fee. Truly great singer, cool performer, very attractive and fun. I didn't think he was so tall!! Btw, I can't stop listening to The Tubes' The Completion Backward Principle and I can't wait to have all their albums. They are marvelous, both in studio and on stage. It's very sad being young and not able to live those golden times that were the 70s and the 80s.

Saw The Tubes about 10 years ago, at the Harley Davidson Love Ride. Fee came out with a tv on his head and we’re phenomenal. During the middle of their set, I noticed 4 guys off to the side of the stage. They were standing, arms crossed, staring intently and after each song, politely clapped. It really struck me how respectful these guys were being, and went to take a picture of this, however, wanted to remember it how I saw it. The four gentlemen were Dave Grohl, Pat Smear, Nate Mendel, and Taylor Hawkins.

Fee, best front man in any band after the late great Freddie Mercury. I have been lucky enough to see the Tubes 3 times in my life here in the UK and live they are fantastic! Their last album 'Genius of America' is highly under rated, sadly they never play anything from it live.

For those of us that got to see The Tubes back in the day, we were gifted to a show like no other. Everything about them live was incredible! Visually as creative as it got, and they sounded absolutely amazing. Total package! And indeed, Fee is one of the all time front men, that unfairly is rarely mentioned as being at the top!! Incredible!!! One of a kind. Thank you!!!!

I worked security at a free summer concert series about 17 years ago or so and The Tubes played. I was really excited because my dad had their albums and I really dug them when I was growing up. I got to meet them and party with them after the show. Fee got absolutely tore down drunk we had to point him in the direction back to the hotel. Had a blast with those guys and that summer.

The Tubes were the halftime show at the 1981 NFC Title game at Candlestick Park, the one famous for "The Catch" by 49er Dwight Clark. When the game ended jubilant fans poured out onto the field. Fee was out there too, wearing a super cool Forty-Fucking-Niners ballcap with a little red propeller on top! I'm 6’3” and had to reach way up to spin his propeller! That's a tall lad!

I remember being a kid and seeing a spread on the Tubes stage act in my dad's Playboy magazine... '75 or '76..? Fee and Re Styles. Hot stuff! Got to see them at Irvine Meadows Amphitheater when "She's a Beauty" was a hit, and saw them in a relatively small club in downtown San Diego. Prarie's cymbals and Fee's head were pretty close to the low ceiling onstage. My buddy chatted with Fee at the bar afterwards. Good times.
