I enjoyed seeing this side of ranching, totally different that the brahama cross, commercial cattle we raised on the ranch. But cows are cows and bulls are bulls, same all over, just different enviorment (except for dairy cattle, there the bulls are the dangerious ones). I used to enjoy feeding the young bulls in winter time, even if it was with sacks, but you really had to watch them, because you could get ran over if they got to pushing each other. I subscribed & hit the bell because I want to see more of your operation, your descriptions are spot on too.

Your a very smart man by pre-bucking n testing your cows n keeping the ones who want to buck n will buck. Like you said most of the bucking DNA will come from your cow. I had mentioned this in a previous video. I wouldn’t have commented on it if I had watched this video first. Sorry.

Interesting thanks! Why do bucking bulls have horns made shorter?
@jeanfish7
4 жыл бұрын
To reduce the chance of a rider or bull fighter being gored.
@justhollyfoster
4 жыл бұрын
Bull horns are "tipped" to eliminate the point on the end for rider safety - usually to the size of a silver dollar with rounded edges. Some bulls' horns have to be shortened more to make this possible.

What's the rope around back end of bucking bulls there for?
@justhollyfoster
4 жыл бұрын
The rope at the back end is a flank stap. Their flanks are similar to our underarms. More sensitive skin and is adjustd differently on each bull. It doesn't make them buck. Nothing will if they don't want to. It only helps the ones that do want to buck, buck better. It leaves no mark on them and harms them in no way. It is also, unlike some think, in any way in contact with their private parts.

All random crossbred. They made the herd because when we weaned them and flanked them, they bucked, too. They are all daughters of our better bucking bulls which were all crossbreds.
