The problem with “progressive” people is they think I things I don’t think. Conversation is impossible or nearly so, with such bias. Intellectual decor, and the possibility that echo chamber you’re living in, even exist.

Comment on Michael's note about why do people only go to therapy when they are in a bad place. Honestly, money. I was seeing someone on Better help but I was only able to afford two months, and trust me i'd love to stay on, but I can't. I am in Canada so I was paying out of pocket, but here my insurance covers $400 per year and 50 min with a therapist can go for about $150-200. All this talk about mental health but the insurance coverage is horrible, at least in Canada.

Wonderful episode, thank you. ❤️ This is connected to their conversation about self deprivation/ negative self talk, I just had to share.( Sorry if it seemed off topic) 1: you maybe Neurodiverse and even though you are an amazing square shape, you have been told by others you love/love you and society as a whole( which has been made for circles) that you should be a circle to fit in, ergo you are wrong, your edge bits are wrong, but they are not they are what makes you special and different, doesn't make life easy because we are constantly fighting, but what the child version of us did was start to believe it, we internalised it and made it our truth when really it's someone else's point of view. We didn't deserve it but we internalised it and believed we did, it was a way to survive. 2. That negative voice/ thoughts about ourselves needs to be depowered , you take that power away by naming it, all negative self criticism is coming from those that said it to us in our past before we internalised it. So name it. Example: " it's my fault, it's always my fault, there is something wrong with me, why can't I do it right" etc, now name that critic is "parents voice/ your school bully/ older siblings/ nasty boss ( these are examples) but picking someone you know has caused damage, even if not knowingly. Then try it again, one you can tell it to shut up but 2 you start to realise it is just a thought , probably not yours originally, but it helps us step away. So the negative comments, switch it to "you're doing it wrong", or " you're strange", "you're stupid", "it's you that's the problem", "it's your fault". You go from 'I' statements to the 'you' like someone else had said that, and it starts to click that irs not you that make you think that way but someone's point of view you gave internalised. Sounds strange but the next time a you have a negative self thought said "that's 'X' opinion/talking, I don't need to listen to this. Or shut up I didn't ask for your opinion " or even f off.... Take the power away. (You never have to tell anyone who it is, it's ok even if you love the person, family dynamic can be very complicated, it does not make you a bad person, it's a way of deprogramming that internalised criticism of others , we did long ago and made our own, one day you may not need to do the naming but to get started in trying to separate yourself from self critical thoughts, name the voice.) Whoever reads this, you are not your thoughts, that is all they are they are not gospel truth, they are just thoughts. Be kind to yourself, you did the best job you could under the circumstances, at the time with the resources you had available to you. 🫂🫂🫂🫂🤍🤍🤍

27:33 I know exactly what you mean. I had a neighbour who I enjoyed talkin` too, and one day since he was single I mentionned I might have someone to introduce him too. His first words was `Not a fat one I hope?'. Changed my whole persective of him, didn't introduce the girl (who wasn't fat) and now we barely speak. That's why when I interview actors I never ask them about their beleifs or views, because I don't want to stop enjoying their work. A good example is the actor who played the principal in Ferris Bueller, it's hard to enjoy now that I know he's a pedophile.

She’s someone I enjoy following and I have for the past 10 years but it’s so strange to me how she goes on and on about Rowling but doesn’t want to talk about Joss Wheadon and his disgusting behavior towards tons of actors and other people .People like Sarah Michelle Gellar and Charisma Carpenter had no problem standing up for themselves and other victims of his abuse. Rowling, although I personally don’t agree with her views, is speaking out on something she believes is wrong but Joss abused his power and abused people. That’s more important to condemn than someone speaking about gender.

I've been a fan of Felicia ever since The Guild and have enjoyed many of her projects. This interview was slightly off putting for me though because I've never noticed just how "Hollywood" her mentality and outlook on things is. Michael talking about how his parents would call him dumb and her jumping right to how it was abuse as opposed to it just being non-supportive seems like a leap to me. Also, her stopping to call the Harry Potter lady trash because she doesn't like her politics and how it keeps her from enjoying the series now is silly to me. I'll continue to enjoy her body of work but I just find myself shaking my head a lot going "Really, Felicia?"
