Are there any tips that we should do when a female Betta does not want to lay eggs during Betta fish breeding?
Before getting into the discussion of tips, it's good if we look again at the conditions for betta fish to be bred:
- Betta fish are of age
- Betta fish are sexually mature (male bettas have shobu, female bettas are filled with eggs)
For the record, it is very natural that one of the betta fish pairs does not want to spawn because this spawning is practically regulated by the breeder. In addition, female betta fish sometimes like to be picky about male betta fish when they are about to be mated.
If the conditions above have been met, but the female betta fish still does not want to lay eggs or does not want to be mated with male betta fish, then there are a few tips we can do:
1. Generally Betta fish pairs will mate within 2 days after the Betta fish are combined. But there are also many cases that Betta fish can lay eggs immediately after 1 day of combining, and some are even more than 3 days. So in essence we can wait until the female betta fish spawn as long as the condition of the two fish, especially the female betta fish, is still in a possible condition (not too badly injured by a male betta fish bite)
2. During the time the Betta fish have not yet spawned, Betta fish can be fed so that their stamina and health are maintained until they are spawned.
3. If after 2 days the betta fish are combined and they have not spawned, check the condition of the spawning container. If there is a lot of dirt, the container can be cleaned by siphoning and replacing the wasted water with new fresh water (partial water change). In this way, the condition of the water quality can be maintained and can make the betta fish more excited to spawn quickly.
