I'm a little confused. The infection is around your ankle but the femur rod was removed which is in the upper leg, was this infection unrelated to the rod removal surgery?

Hi. On October 18, I had removal surgery to remove my femur rods AND the distal syndesmotic screws (the long screws that secure the fibula to the tibia) in the ankle area removed. The mark from my distal syndesmotic screw in my right ankle caught the infection. This video has more information on my syndesmotic screw, starting at 0:07 Femur Rod Removal - Day 32 - Intermediate Level Workout and Athletics kzitem.info/news/bejne/rWiwk42ur5qDqY4

Thank you for sharing your video HJ. Does it affect your ability to walk or stand ?

I can stand and walk fine. If I try to reach jogging speeds or more, then it hurts. Once the wound fully closes and heals, I’ll be able to run or jog fine.

Do you have any suspicions on where you might have gotten it?

I suspect the scar mark where the syndesmotic screw was removed on my right ankle wasn't fully healed and closed. I was doing a lot of more intense exercising, like almost running and heavy leg presses. I think that intense exercise created an opening in that scar mark.
