Here's my comparison of two iconic Fender 1960's amps. They are both Fender Bassmans, separated by two years
My friend Peter Seigel is lending me his 1963 6G6-B Blonde Bassman head, so I thought I'd make a video showing the similarities and differences between it and my 1965 Blackface Bassman. Check out Peter's guitar shop- Asbury Park Vintage Guitars on Reverb and Instagram
Both heads are running into my 1965 Fender Blackface Bassman cabinet (the one that came with the 65 head). This cab has its two original Oxford 12T6 12" ceramic speakers in it. I'm micing the cab with my Neumann TLM-103 mic
Both Bassman heads have a Bass and Normal Channel, which sound great with bass and guitar. I decided not to use the bright switch on the Blackface normal channel, because it's too different from the Blonde and I wanted to keep the tones as close as possible. For each clip the amps are at roughly the same volume (on the knob) but I adjusted them slightly because they weren't exactly the same loudness in the room
