I got this two days ago and tested it against my original LR40R. The flood is nearly identical. However, the spot light is so much more useful now. I also love the rotating bezel. It feels so satisfying to rotate. In my opinion the v2.0 looks much better (subjective), which is part due to the larger heatsink. I do not like the fact that the battery is integrated. Fenix says it can be charged 500 times, which is way more than the average user needs. Unless you want to use your flashlight for the next 20 years. Maybe not ideal for professionals, who charge their flashlights daily.

I have one also, and agree with all your points concerning the batteries.

It’s like a Bic lighter. Sadly you have to toss it or repurpose it once you hit the magic number.

@@dabul808 Very true, I just did the math. If it's good for at least 500 charge cycles, and I'm probably not even going to charge it 100 times a year, it should last a long time. I have a lot of lights, most of which only get charged once a month or so.

I know this is an old video but just to clarify the previous gen 1 LR40R you can use the spot and flood light at the same time. You mention several times that this is an upgrade on the gen 2. I own both and the only real upgrade is the stronger spotlight on the gen 2. I however find the spotlight on the gen 1 more than sufficient and a much better UI with the dual buttons.

great review. the new v2 is hands down superior to a marauder2 itself a great light. I own olights and I like olight especially the ui but their prices are getting out of hand. besides fenix and nitecore are catching up with ui and they offer great prices and discounts

Mine just came in today. Great job to Fenix on shipping it same day i ordered. Also Fenix customer service is as high quality as their flashlights. Also highly recommend adding a Fenix T6 to your order.

Can anyone advise me? Is there any way to tell if the torch is locked Other than actually looking at the dial? Is there a click or any other sign that the lock has been engaged?

The rotary switch cannot turn counterclockwise any further once locked, which is how most people can tell!

@@LonghornTactical many thanks for that reply. I suffer from night blindness so that kind of confirmation would be useful for stop
