Sephora employee here! The key to making it look less cakey is to kindof over-hydrate the skin before priming, it acts as a vehicle that helps the cream products soak in and look more like skin. They also trained us to use the foundation first, concealer/contour after, and set everything once all the cream products are laid down.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the foundation just dried down to its real color and can't really be called oxidation. Oxidation is usually considered to be when the foundation reacts to open air and your skin oils after like 10 minutes or so, not immediately after application. People have noted that the foundation's shade darkens a bit compared to its color in the container. Just wanted people to know :^)

Love you Cassie however respectfully I wanted to mention oxidation happens over time like a banana or apple browning. Change of color right away is the foundation drying down to it's true color. This foundation doesn't oxidize but it does dry down darker than when freshly applied. Stephanie Nicole explains this really well in her latest video, also about Fenty.

DomoLover118 I know that, but if you are going to correct someone on how they do makeup at least know what the product is. Also, there is a huge trend to put powder on before foundation. Regardless, the foundation still looks great even though her application order is not the “norm”.

Also, I would recommend using the contour stick before you set your face with powder so that it blends easier and less choppy. However, I will say that contour looked incredible on you. Just a suggestion- next time try using an oil moisturizer like Tarte's maracuja oil on any flaky or dry spots. Also, it would all blend out better and look less heavy if you do foundation first, then conceal and contour, and powder last. A lot of foundations look heavy on me, and one thing I've found that makes it last longer and look flawless is spray your face with a dewy setting spray between layers and after you finish your face. If you tap lightly with your damp bb over your finished face while the spray is still wet it really makes everything smooth.

I disagree with you saying it oxidizes so badly..I'm shade 150 and the shade dries down darker but doesn't oxidize throughout the day. Maybe it's just the wrong shade for you since you didn't shade match and just got the sample that was only offered in like three or four shades? Mine doesn't appear even remotely orange on me. It dries down slightly darker and remains that same shade all day. I have dry skin and it's my new favorite foundation over my airflash, luminous silk, and remarcable

Keep these videos up, girl. With more videos and practice and perseverance you will get there. Makeup is art - don't let anyone tell you you are doing it wrong. If you're doing it the way you like to do it, then you're doing it right. Mainstream media will always tell you "how to do it the right way"... but that's just following the trends - which come and go monthly. Find the technique you love, and ignore everyone who tells you "that's not right". They're doing makeup the way they were taught, and not the way they found out themselves.

Cassie, Cassie, CASSIE! Did you set your foundation with powder before applying cream contour? Boo boo! No ma'am! My girl knows better than that! No wonder it was a beast to blend. I got the Matchstick trio, foundation and had to order the primer online. :/ They were out of 150 so the Sephora girl matched me at 170. Too dark and pink! Omg. Really loved the cool toned contour with your skin.

Cassie, I just love to watch your videos! Not only because of your insanely cute, intelligent personality, but also because you give us actual close-ups. So often when I dare to put on foundation I get so confused of how it looks, because I'm just used to it looking more perfect from all those KZitemrs. Definitely very calming to see how it actually looks on actual skin in your videos

I mean this as total constructive criticism and not hate at all but girl. Your application skewed the review a lot. If you don't use the products correctly and blend them as poorly as you did then the products aren't going to preform the way they are intended to. I wish that you would wear contacts when you did your makeup so you could blend better and apply the product better! Again no hate, I just feel like your reviews can definitely be improved. The tips I said before would help us to know the truth of products

They say "makeup has no rules" but that means creativity wise.. Everyone knows that you use cream products BEFORE powder products!!! You shouldn't be reviewing something & giving an opinion if you don't even know what you're doing . I usually love watching your reviews cause you're just a normal everyday person who doesn't bullshit & who has the same skin problems as everybody else but it was just annoying watching you do it all wrong...

Giiirl, be more gentle with your under eye skin. It hurts just to watch you drag it. Loved the review though, but I think maybe you could play a bit more with it and do an update later. Sometimes changing a thing or two really helps. Although it is a shame the foundation oxidizes. Plus; you look super young and nice with minimal makeup. You're a true beauty

Hi Cassie! Great review, as always. However, I have less than positive feelings every time you point out (repeatedly) that you're only buying the products because viewers have asked you to and how expensive it is. To me this comes off as a bit resentful to your viewers. Maybe not mention this or just don't buy the products/do the review?

Dani Mansuitcase The first part of your comment doesn't make any sense. As for the part about it not being fair that she has to purchase the products....uhm what??? That is ridiculous. She CHOSE to make her channel about reviewing makeup, so she should purchase it. She does not HAVE to buy & review the products her subscribers ask her to. Again, she CHOOSES to do it. Amy is absolutely correct

Firstly, why would you use a blotting powder as a setting powder? Second, why would you add a cream on top of a powdered base? Third, why would you blend your contour in all sorts of directions? Inward upward is the most recommended way to make contour look good. Fourth, the highlighter by itself isn't actually very subtle, you just had barely any product on the brush. Fifth, Cassie girl if you did just a nudge more research, you'd find out how everybody and their mother was saying that the foundation was a very drying foundation and that you have to reeeeally moisturize to have it sink naturally on the skin. This is all said with no disrespect intended but just constructive criticism. In order to give the products a fair chance, you have to apply them the way they were intended to be applied.

I’ve tried every matte foundation under the sun this year and this one is by far the best! I’m also shade 150 and it does dry down a bit darker than when it goes on but it’s perfect for me and my winter skin. Maybe you can try a shade lighter 140? Try it again! It lasts ALL day without even having to blot and this is me, who like you, needs to blot SEVERAL times a day! It’s lightweight, don’t feel it at all. I’m jelly you got the brush! It’s so pretty and seems to make the foundation go on so nicely. I love you and saw all these mean comments, whatever girl! Just keep doing your thing Miss Lady! 💕

I am a makeup/skin care lover and I love Cassie. I see so many be so critical of her for the same things I love about her. She is real and with a real sense of humor. She isn't someone who sits here picking people apart. She gives her opinion for her own skin and skill. She doesn't get on here to claim she is the best. Actually she points out her flaws often which I feel she over inflates. She is awesome. When you watch her just relax. I find she is more genuine then any other KZitem.

Kylie G I haven't watched the channel since before this video went up, but I got a notification for today's video and decided to watch it. I couldn't finish it, she hasn't changed at all. This one is even worse. I just don't understand why you would continue to refuse to learn the basics of make-up application if you have a make-up channel. You don't need to be a beauty guru to do that, I learned the basics I'm talking about before I was 13! I have the same skin as hers, the same problems with my vision, the same shade of skin colour, I even have Dermatillomania! But she just continues to refuse to learn new skills. I'm unsubscribing, I've found far better channels to follow. And none of them are professional beauty gurus either, they all have full-time jobs as well as their KZitem channels.
