What is that mini tap that you have attached to the flow control disconnect at 0:54? Looks like a perfect (easy to wash out) "sampling valve" for Fermzillas, kegs and other pressure fermenters.

Thanks for the video, really useful. I would be interested to know how you use this to bottle rather than keg the beer when not using pressure? Is there an additional tool to use such as the float? If so what is the process? Many thanks

Bottling using the Fermzilla is a bit problematic but can be done. I would just go though the top and use a siphon.

What would be the most straightforward way to use this as a bright tank? Ideally having 3 soda cap openings in the lid would allow a floating dip tube, regular gas in connection that could be a pressure gauge during carbonation, and a third for a carbonation stone. Could you use the duotight bulkhead for a carbonation stone? The connection wouldn't be as convenient as a ball lock though.
@KegLand
4 жыл бұрын
I don't think the carbonation stone is really necessary. This tank has a large diameter of 35cm. So the surface area of gas to liquid has a much higher ratio than ball lock corny kegs that are only 21cm (about 3 times higher). So the carbonation speed will be 3 times faster than with a corny keg. As a result it's really not necessary in my opinion and will just give you more things to need to clean out. If you really want to do it you can use the stainless thermowell and then cut the end off this and attach the carbonation stone to this: www.kegland.com.au/60cm-thermowell-1-4inch-duotight-bulkhead-included.html This would give you a rigid wand that you can force below the liquid level making carbonation a bit easier.

Great videos my friend! Just wanted to see if you had a trick for getting the middle funnel and the valve separated. So what I have going on is that I assembled the fermzilla and now I am unable to get them apart. The middle black funnel and the valve spin and not able to separate the two. Unable to hold the middle inside the fermenter section and try to screw the bottom off. I went ahead and screwed the locking ring on to the bottom of the cone. As tight as I could by hand. Put pressure to it and it seems to hold pressure and doesn’t leak. I wanted to completely disassemble and redo the whole setup again to insure I have it together correctly. As well as get it cleaned up. Only issue is now is do I dare try to remove the area I am having issues with. I do t want to ruin a new fermenter. Hope I was able to get what is going on down so you understand what issue I have. Thanks again for the videos.

Yes we have a few tricks for this like pressurising the vessel and then undoing this part and then releasing the pressure. Please contact our customer service guys and they will assist you. Also we have a new tri-clover dump valve that will eventually be available so with this new upgrade the whole process is much easier.

We ship all units with a spare o-ring. With that said a second thing we also have in Australia is a slightly thicker o-ring that is 2.6mm thick rather than the stock one that is 2.1mm thick. In future all new units will be packed with the thicker o-ring however if you can please let us know your name, contact details and distributor you purchased the unit from then we can organise some of these thicker o-rings to be shipped out to you. It's a really easy fix.

@@KegLand Doesn't PBW severely damage PET?
@KegLand
3 жыл бұрын
@@mrkesu Yes if you do not use it correctly that can happen. The issue with PBW is when you leave it in the fermenter for a long period. If you only have PBW in contact for 20 minutes or less it will be fine. We notice the issue is when people leave PBW in the fermenter for many hours or days.

We get about 40% of customers buy the stainless steel ball carbonation cap posts and about 35% of customers want the plastic ones that are cheaper. About 25% of customers either don't want the carbonation caps as they already own them or they do not want to purchase them again. So it would not be efficient for us to force all customers to pay more and include a specific type in the kit. It's just as easy for customers to purchase these parts separately as it's only one additional click through the checkout. What we could do which might help your situation is list up a bundle that includes the carbonation caps. This would be more expensive but then it would be just one click for you. Would you prefer this to be an option?
