Pretty darn helpful video for other owners of these things. They used to be so much more difficult back then compared to modern cars! I think I'd just keep the top down all the time and never drive it in foul weather. Love the Mondial, though. A great Ferrari in every way, but sadly underrated by many.

That was Cool, I was 24 years old when I owned a black 1984 mondial couple Now I might go out and buy a 1986 mondial convertible after seeing how fun it is. that was 31 years ago.

- when folding the roof down there are metal brackets which can have a scissors effect when the roof canvas is pinched between them and the material wears thin at these locations with time. I had to reinforce the material here otherwise holes may have developed. When pressing the roof together I check that no material is in the "pinch-area" and try not to press down more than needed. I also fold the plastic part in as you do since it certainly gets the best fit.

Great video....thanks! Only thing to add is when you put the cover back on the top start with the two staps behind the rear seats and go from there...those two are a pain in the a$$ to get snapped....who the hell engineers this stuff! I could put up the top on my C4 in ten seconds.....

The best Ferrari sports car is the all analog (baby Testarossa) Ferrari 348. The 348 is the biggest bang for the buck in Ferraris. As the predecessor to the 355, the 348 has the Formula 1 exhaust note without the costly valve and active suspension issues the 355 has. Less is more in analog sports cars. Older is easier as most can work on a 348. Its now or never for 348 buyers.

Is there not a button somewhere to do this is 12 seconds? Seriously though - my 1988 3.2 Cab is similar but two points worth noting: - when taking the poppers off one should hold the cover down at the bottom of the popper when releasing since the pinchers in the poppers otherwise break with time and no longer hold (they are easy to replace though). - second in next comment...

Clearly you need to decide whether the top should be up or down before heading out. Which is to say it should always be down, so everyone can see how huge your smile is.

400 Convertibles are beautiful, but they didn't come as convertibles from the factory - they are all custom conversions.
