Okay. I saw Ferris Bueller in the theatre in 86...I was 22 years old I and friends of mine talked about what happened to him after the credits rolled. One person said he went to California and became a surfer, one said he never went to college and became a Zen fry cook, lol. I said No no he went on to be a motivational speaker and wrote best selling self help books. I think 20 years down the road he is unhappy with the path he has taken as a self help writer and speaker and has lost touch his true purpose. Cameron who shows up at one of his talks, has taken Ferris's teachings and found peace. Cameron takes stressed out Ferris out to show him where he went wrong in his life, the student become the teacher...the particulars are up in the air, lol.

@bernieleenercranz9046

Honestly, leave the film alone. But I thought it would be a much better a sequel if Ferris has a son skipping school on a day that he is skipping work. One notices the other and there is a bit of cat and mouse between them, (I'll tell your boss vs. I'll tell your mother and principal) then they decide to hang out together and end up actually having to dodge Ferris' daughter, wife and boss. I'm not on board for a FB2, but I would watch this scenario if it was done right, and not in current typical Hollywood manner.
@SmallSpoonBrigade
5 жыл бұрын
That could actually work, it's a shame that's not likely to ever be made. It would also be rather amusing if Ferris wound up being a school principal and wound up playing the Rooney part using his knowledge of school skip techniques to try to bust the student.

I was going to say that if I had to pic between the three, it would've involved the version written by that failed screenwriter from Arizona, but now I'm starting to lean towards your idea. At one time, I imagined a scenario where Cameron somehow winds up joining some right-wing neo-Nazi militia group just to be part of something, and Ferris and Sloane try to lure him away from it. Now that I think about it, a good teaser trailer for that idea could've made it look like he was shooting at some innocent people, when in reality he's shooting up the compound itself.

I actually think the nursing home idea has some merit, thematically and could be a great script - to wait that long would be hysterical (the idea of Cameron committing himself early is actually pretty funny) - but the main problem with a sequel is that John Hughes isn't here anymore. He wrote "Ferris" and it has his inimitable touch - doing another would be like doing a sequel to "Glengarry Glenn Ross" without David Mamet.

"Election" was the imaginary sequel -- and an almost perfect one, in nearly all but the title and the character names. But It played just as one might imagine a sequel to FBDO could: Ferris never really matured, takes a job in a high school (where he can keep on living his glory days), but the passing years have turned his snarky optimism as a high schooler into a jaded man-child...and then the karma for all he did to Ed Rooney catches up with him in the character of student body prez Flick....she's Rooney's revenge. Ferris Bueller is one of those films where I would've loved a sequel to, HOWEVER the events that happen (Cameron finally deciding to live life and not be scared) cannot be replicated (though I did wonder what happened when his father Morris got back) and to have him go back to the way he was would kinda put a dampener on the first. I think it's best to leave what happens to our imagination. Universal made the mistake of making a sequel to another 80s favourite, The Blue Brothers, a film I have to deassociate myself and live in denial that it never happened (as with Beverly Hills Cop III). Some films should just be left alone.

What I thought would make a good sequel would be Cameron and Ferris kinda lost contact with each other after high school. Ferrris has calmed down, started a family, become a cog in the corporate machine. Cameron on the other hand has become more like how Ferris used to be but more reckless and without a lot of the charm Ferris had. He's basically trying too hard to relive his past. He shows up to see Ferris and convinces him to take the day off with him after seeing that Ferris has become so uptight (more like the kinds of characters Matthew Broderick is more known for playing nowadays). They try to do the same kinds of stuff they did last time but none of it works because the old you can't catch lighting twice thing while Ferris relearns some of his old tricks in key moments. While Cameron learns how much of an arrested man child he's become constantly trying to relive his high school days. They both learn to use just the right amount of the old Ferris Bueller charm to help themselves in their lives, but still be responsible adults ready to be mature members of society.

I think they should make a sequel. When the movie came out we could all relate to the desire to ditch school and just make the best day of it. Now as adults we realize how life and constantly working can be ever more soul crushing then school. And taking a day off to not only get away but also find ourselves is not only appealing but life affirming. We need to gain perspective on why we do what we do and discover our inner happiness that isn’t dependent on buying things. A sequel, if done properly, would have even more of an impact on people and inspire us to do the same. The first movie was just lighthearted fun about ditching school but ditching work and life has much bigger meaning and can be really significant. It should be made!

A sequel where hes an adult, goofing off until he realizes hes going nowhere fast, and having to get his life back on track in the final act could flip the theme differently, and give it even more relatability for the ones who grew up with the film also going through the struggles of adulting, but I guess I can only dream..

I heard a rumor that the sequel was actually going to be Ferris, Sloan and Cameron as adults. Carmon gets fired from his job and decides show up at both Ferris and Sloans work Camron convinces the two of them to blow off work and they all relive the great day they all had from the first movie. The reason Cameron is doing all this is because Ferris and Sloan are having marital problems and Cameron wants to help them work things out.

If they make it, it should be about Ferris and slone’s son skipping the day so they could get the same actors

I like the breaking out of nursing home and getting up to shenanigans idea but not with Cameron dying in the end.

I love how they think running the car in reverse will erase the mileage... Ferris is smart enough to pull off this glorious day but doesnt know how odometers work.😂

I have an idea for a sequel. It's called Ferris' Years Off. Basically after the events of the first movie, Ferris ends up committing vehicular manslaughter and escapes any prosecution or jail time.

I think we all would love to see Ferris and Cameron come back as grumpy old men in Ferris Bueller’s Return.😂

I actually kind of like Alan Ruck's idea for Bueller and Cameron in a nursing home.

It would have been cool to have him taking a day off his boring office job in his mid 30's. Basically like he was having a mid-life crisis. Although office space kinda follows that premise so idk...if it woulda worked. Most sequels dissapoint years after the first one so maybe it's best to leave greatness alone.

I think a sequel would be awesome with Ferris as a family man who desperately needs a break from the kids with his wife. The Beullers Day Off.

Ferris Bueller should be like Back to the Future don't mess with a good thing

And yet it had three parts to it, meaning two sequels. Just sayin’!

You could have a revisit to the first movie, entertaining all of the subsequent ideas, Cameron's death, failed career for Ferris, Divorce, many other off the wall directions to have Ferris wake up in the end and realize it was a dream. Or was it?

The theme of Ferris Bueller that was key is about life breaking out of institutionalized living most of us must abide by. I like #2 the best (breaking out of retirement home). But the truth is as long as a sequel embraces this theme and does so fully it will be a hit.

actually i wouldnt mind seeing a sequel where ferris is miserable and life passed him by. He is old and knows all he has to look forward to is his parents dying, then his friends and loved ones. A darker film about learning to come to terms with mortality.

Do one about Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.....WORK. Showing him sleeping in and watching tv and falling asleep while watching tv.

Alan Rucks "old folk home" idea actually sounds like a genuinely fun movie, and could be a great heartfelt one too. Call it "Cameron's Day Off" or something

Might be cool if Rooney was like a head of security at a building, and then he hunts Ferris down after he breaks in.

Just reminding everyone that Matthew Broderick killed two people in a drunk driving accident and got off with a $175 fine.
