MAPRO BUILDS MOUNT KAILASH AT WAI. THE AWARD WINNING
PROJECT.
FerroCement Day was celebrated at the Baharatiya Kala Prasarini
Sabha, College of Architecture, recently.
Late V.D Joshi Award was given to MAPRO foods.
Pune: On February 14, 2024, the 12th FerroCement Day was
celebrated at the BKPS Architecture College on Tilak Road in
Pune. The event witnessed the participation of numerous
members of the FerroCement Society, as well as students from
the BKPS Architecture College. The distribution of awards in
memory of the renowned architect and engineer, late Vishnu
Joshi, took place on this day. This year's award was presented to
Mapro Foods, Wai, for their innovative use of FerroCement
technology in creating a snow world, including a depiction of
Mount Kailash from the Himalayas. The technical film depicting
the making of the Mountain inside the snow world was
showcased. Mr. Chandrakant Patil revealed plans to soon
introduce mountain climbing facilities for tourists.
During the program, Mr. Sunil Jorkar from Khopdevadi and Mr.
Janardan Bhagat from Karjat were honored as outstanding
workers in FerroCement for their exceptional contributions. Both
individuals showcased their expertise in FerroCement technology
by undertaking various construction projects. In their speech, they
expressed grattitude to the Ferrocement society which paved a
path to upskill their Ferrocement constructing skills. To discuss
the criteria for awarding this prestigious accolade, Padmanabh
Lele, the President of the FerroCement Society, delivered a
speech. Architect Sonali Thosar shared her experiences and
emphasized the importance of FerroCement technology in practical applications for architecture students. She also
showcased many out of the box ideas she implemented in her
work.
For excellent coordination for the Ferrocement convention 2023
Dr. Kalyan Sundaram, Professor emeritus C O E P, and from
Symbiosis Institute of Technology Dr. Rushikesh Kulkarni,
professor Mugdha Kshirsagar, and Dr. Vaishnavi Dabir, were
honored. The program was presided over by Rajendra Pawar, Ex.
Secretary of Water Resources. He stressed the need for
widespread promotion and utilization of FerroCement technology
to establish it as a renowned Indian standard. He emphasized the
need of having the code for ferrocement soon at hand so that the
use becomes widespread.
The importance of efforts towards popularizing FerroCement
technology was highlighted by Mr. Abhijit Natu in his speech. The
event was efficiently coordinated by Dr. Vaishnavi Dabir and
Architect Yamini Deshmukh. The program also saw the presence
of notable personalities, including Ulhas Paranjape from
Jalvardhini Pratishthan, Vivek Giridhari from Gyan Prabodhini, and
Mumbai-based entrepreneur Mohan Desai, along with many
engineers and architects.
