Thabks for the comment mate. Yeah really trying from my end to get the content out as soon as I film to keep everyone up to date on what I’m doing. Hope it helps you with your gardening 👍

Absolutely agree. It's what has turned me off some of my favourite gardening channels that blew up huge. Suddenly my favourite garden lady has cows and tractors and never does any work in the veg garden. I'm here to see the daily maintenance, hands in the dirt. Love it, appreciate it, and relate to it.

Your cabbage, cauli and broccoli leaves look completely pest free. What do you use and how often do you apply? Garden looks beautiful

Hey mate I use pyrethrum. It’s a safe contact spray and is ideal dealing with caterpillars. I find that the caterpillars are not around in winter but as soon as it warms up they are everywhere. I generally spray every 7-10 days and especially when I start seeing any damage

Hi Anthony, you got a great harvest of brassicas there. I have finished for this season as most of my last crop bolted while I was away. Once again great stuff. Cheers 👍👍

Looking so good! I've had the best brassica season I've ever had. Broccoli, cauli and cabbage have been huge and amazing. The cabbages are looking a bit heyho fighting against the chooks and white moths, but still great big firm heads coming in. Can't wait for this cold snap to go away again 😂 Im done with winter!

I love a deep fried cauliflower though not great for my cholesterol. I really do enjoy eating cauliflower rice as well especially when you have a nice tomato based stew

Geez! I have brassica envy. My cabbages are hardly hearting up at all so far. I prefer to use BT to treat cabbage worms as pyrethrum kills the good bugs as well as the pests. I'm down in Melbourne and just hoping my cabbages come good before the warm weather hits. Nice video. Cheers!

Thank for watching! Yeah BT is definitely better to use than pyrethrum to control caterpillar as it is specific. I try to minimise the impact on good bugs by spraying in the late afternoon early evening when the winged predators are away.

Thank you for great videos. I discovered your channel recently and have now subscribed. With the same climate, I follow your garden timetable, with good results so far. - To be even more educational, it would be great if you also mentioned what varieties of seeds you buy or order and when, so that we are not behind when duplicating your strategies. Thanks again for your efforts and demonstrations that are so helpful. ❤

Try looking at warm season varieties where you are located there are a number of varieties that they grow in the growing regions of SEQLD that would be suited in your area. I have found warm season varieties do better in Sydney also

I have a 850m2 block and I have converted about 100m2 of growing space for veggies so I am able to turn over a lot of produce from my patch. Though I also focus on succession planting and planting my crops close to maximise production

How do you stop the earwigs and slugs getting into your cabbages?
@sydneybackyardveggies9612
2 күн бұрын
I really struggle especially when you get prolonged periods of rain. I do use snail pellets regularly to control them and also try to limit the breeding places for slugs so I don’t use mulch. Once the heads form they should be ok as the head grows from the inside. I am experimenting with using diluted vinegar solution to deal with slugs once they get into the head while growing
