Festool are likely in no rush to produce a cordless version of DF500 because majority of their users use Domino in a workshop or a job site where mains power is available. There are probably not many timber frame builders or roofers running up and down the trusses wishing they could bring DF500 with them. In addition to potential lack of demand - Ergonomics (as mentioned in the video) is likely the main reason why cordless Domino does not exist yet. Domino is not like a circular saw - where you can simply change the motor and slap the battery on it to make a cordless tool which is still perfectly usable. Even if Festool figure out the blower as @gharel396 suggested - weight distribution (due to added battery) may change significantly enough that the front of Domino will have to be redesigned to make it more stable.

These are all excellent points. Many tools are making their way to the cordless stage. Battery powered table saws and dust extractors are bucking the trend that tools have to remain corded indefinitely. All it takes is a creative mind and money for R&D. Thanks for checking out the video.

If they could figure out an internal blower like for the ETS sanders or the track saw, that would make the battery domino killer portable and might actually convince me to upgrade.

I was thinking the domino looks like it would fit the ergo battery at the plug it end. Perhaps they have one in the works. This would give you best of both worlds because they sell the ergo mains adapter. Also it wouldn't change must of the design, it seems like the simplest option. Sys vac + cordless domino is 🔥👍🏽

I tried to look up Ergo and only came up with a vacuum. Is that the product you were talking about? Thanks for checking out the video.

Oh I see. I wonder if they would carry enough power in such a small package to run the tool for a useful amount of time?

@@daddysharespace that was my concern also. Perhaps they make a larger capacity version.

The 18v ergo batteries are equivalent in power to the regular 3.1 ah 18v battery in theory. Both packs use 5 cells sized at 18650. They just use a different configuration. I could maybe see the Domino 500 using the ergo batteries. Is the 500 power hungry enough to need a high power 5 cell pack (4 ah) or even a 10 cell regular power pack (5.2 ah or 6.2 ah)? I doubt the Domino 700 could be cordless unless it was either dual battery or it used the high power 10 cell battery (8ah) that isn't out in North America yet.

Another approach is a Festool Systainer Portable Power Station, FSPPS, then you can use your wired tools at a jobsite with no power. I suspect a good project would be to build a FSPPS by buying a Portable Power Station and shoehorn it into a Systainer.

I spoke to a festool usa rep, the sys power station 110v is already made but because of the battery regulations in North America the release date has been delayed. He was saying potentially a release would be late 2024.

But bro. Your missing the 18v POWER PHONe charger there. (Im sure its under your cabinet somewhere) Yeah for a Domino as 18v would be good. *(but with dust extraction, might as well keep the cord ac/dc on and the Vacuum hose)
