This is what I love to see in gaming. Even if I didn't play it I love that this exists. Video games are a technology in which we can create anything. Literally only our minds (And hardware) are limitations. Yet we keep going for gritty, brown and green filter, games. Trying our hardest to emulate realism. My point being, if we can create anything, why are we trying to re-create what we are currently living? Games like this leave an impact and break a mould much needed to be broken.

Phil Fish is just a man with all the complexities and flaws that a man who spent 5 years working on one game by himself would have. Was he defensive and at time aggressive against internet haters? Yes, and you would've been too. In the end he delivered a great game and the people who fail to acknowledge that and instead get butthurt over his criticism of his criticizers... they're the ones who lose, not him. He will always be able to say he designed one of the greatest indie games of all time on his own and got rich off of it, and you will most likely never have that privilege.

Parsa Do yourself a favor and watch a film called "Indie Game: The Movie" its on Netflix It covers the making of Fez, Super Meat Boy and Braid and it's fan-fucking-tastic. I seriously cannot recommend this movie enough. Phil Fish, the guy who made Fez, is an interesting character. In the movie he's painted pretty sympathetically and you really feel for his struggle with his development partner. But after all that he's just been digging his own grave criticizing the gaming community and stuff.

Fez is the best game EVER! I know, I know, it doesn't have 3 dimensional gameplay or 'edgy' gimmicks to attract people's attention. But it has CARE, LOVE, AND ATTENTION put into every detail of it's design, and I for one like Phil Fish more than I did before I played the game. Anyone thinking of getting the game should know that it's an intense ride, despite the soothing facade placed over the world's sunny exterior. And behind the simplistic puzzles is another set of completely ridiculous secrets which require analysis of the entire game world to solve. And I would just like to say that having just finished the entire game a few minutes ago, I say it was well worth the effort, the end was definitely worth the means, and I would recommend it to anybody here.

There's a huge difference between the two. The developer for Fez is an indie developer. When he works on a project, it's just him. The creator of Mario/Zelda (Miyamoto) has a whole team behind him. If Miyamoto gets backlash he still has an entire team to support him. If Fish gets backlash, he only has himself to support him.

ReppeNThA707 it actualy is copyright infrengment same as using movies, pictures and videos you dont own rights to. the only reason video game developers dont take any legal actions, compared to audio and video fotage is because they dont see "lets play's" as competition but as a comercial to their game. futhermore, people who do let's play's of games that didnt come out yet are not allowed to show some parts of the game (spoilers for example) because it would ruin the game for other players. In case they do that, developers will take down their video. and have full right to do so. other examples are Activision who used copyright law to take down videos that show bugs and glitches in Call of Duty game. When swoozy wanted to do it in a right way before lets plays became a thing. because it wasnt a concept yet, and there was a lot of legal issues he gave up. But other people didnt even bother with legal issues. they just recorded their game. and as it became popular video game studios didnt bother with copyright issues as it was doing them free adds.

The artstyle is beautiful, the music is soothing, the levels are creative, hunting for anticubes is fun, finding secrets is challenging. Sure, later on in the game you may see some glitches, but considering the perspective changing mechanic is hard to code so it works perfect, it's bound to happen. Devs made there games masterpieces and classics. And after 2008 gaming went to shit, devs and publishers turned ever more greedy, no online holding back content from the game to release it as dlc, but making games dumbed down to appeal to a bigger audience. Nowadays all we get is medicore sequel after sequel, and no 97% are unoriginal.

They already have the humble indie bundle which can be as low as $1 for 5+ indie games if that's what floats your boat. :P I like to give more because you can choose to give most of it to game related charities. I played though a good chunk of the game and I must say I'm impressed. Most games that attempt a pixely, 8-bit era visuals in games often can seem a bit gimmicky and lacking certain charms as an oldschool throwback. But this game is just full of unassuming charm and it doesn't have the outright menacing atmosphere of LIMBO nor does it have heady themes of Braid. It's a nice, unassuming, cute, fun, adventurous game. The Fish drama is unfortunate, considering the game is really good.

It's not an MS exlusive. They're looking to port it over to more platforms. XBLA just has good support for indie devs. MS didn't develop, publish or fund this game. It's just on their platform. I suppose every single PC exclusive indie game ever that has had rave reviews were also paid for by microsoft, on their platform after all.

Mmm, that's a really good point. Though most games rarely focus on more than one type of gameplay anyway. I mean, don't expect much from this game appart from what is shown in this review. And it's not much, still look like alot of fun. Have you played the game?

Watched Indie Game: The Movie. And I love that this game turned out great. Congratulations Phil Fish, you freaking did it! That said, I still hope for a PC release. But you can take your time Phil, we love you :D

It hasn't been released on PC, but it would sell well on Steam. Indie Game the Movie was released on Steam recently, and that features Fez, which coincidentally is the only game in that film that is not on Steam. Could be foreshadowing? I don't know.

it may come out on steam some time in the future, but as far as I'm concerned, this is currently an xbox exclusive.

I seriously hope that there are more colors in their palletes than just merely the snes. But yeah, the snes was good in its run.

I really want to move to Sweden and work for Frictional Games, but I'm only in High School now. I'll see how things go.

And yet hardly anyone in IGN mentions COD in reviews. In fact, COD is usually mentioned more in the comment sections, such as in comments like this that are trying to say that IGN loves COD.

It uses satire to make the point across. Their critique was completely fair.

Fair enough on cod 4 but you have to realize that Fez is an amazing accomplishment given it was made by 2, i think maybe 3 ppl. Don't undermine it with dark souls, that game had a huge dev team and massive amounts of money. Yes it's better but Fez is still very good.

They are too worried trying to survive on old franchise, forgetting that those franchises once were new games.

its nothing we haven't seen in a long time, new characters, the 3-D is a welcome concept, and i understand full well that there is a huge gap between COD and Fez, and you should realize that some people play games to have fun and not be challenged, (and if falling of a tall cliff 10 times to try and get a collectable dosnt frustrate you... -.-) remember games like banjo kazooie? games that were played to escape from your life? rather than make you rage?
