Recently we had an interview where YoshiP revealed on a new system that allows players to skip up to Endwalker. It seems that the community is split on this announcement.
The real problem is not the story skip it is the fact that the skip does not unlock all the side content and raids. If a skip were in place participation for duties would go way down so for those who do not it will become a 50 minute queue for selecting the option to play with players instead of duty support. There is also the MMO part being mostly player made in the form of player housing becauae Eureka/Bozja dies down on most servers they need to rethink the zones in expansions because doing fates alone is not doing it.

I thought at first the job and story skips were a bad idea then when they came out I realized shortly after it was probably one of the best ideas they ever made. When going from MMORPG A to B doing story related content is always the biggest drag on earth. Its just a miserable time you slog through just to get to the very end and finally start having fun. I can just spend like 30min to an hour on a training dummy and learn the game that way faster than cutscenes about lore can teach me. You can argue dungeons teach people how to play the game as they progress through the story but if playing the game past few years taught me that is a lie. Only people that improve and get better and learn the games are the ones who WANT to learn the game. So many non story skippers in dungeons already do less than bare minimum. I'd bet over 90% of the people who claim you need to learn the lore of FFXIV to enjoy it can't explain to me the lore of Captain Madison in Satasha and how he came into contact with Denn the Orcatoothed. Also who tf cares about the Azem summoning circle that hard. Its not that major. Its just an excuse to cover up the plot hole of where other WoL in duties are coming from. Its not that deep, frankly I just hate all the dumb gatekeeping people do in this game its dumb.
