Fighting game notation is a bit dry but important to cover - mostly an inclusion for the sake of completeness.
Dustloop has a great breakdown on Numpad notation specifically, even if you are not a Guilty Gear player.
Quarter circle inputs, like for Ryu's Hadouken, you might see written as "qcf + HP" or 236HP in numpad notation.
A crouching medium kick might be written as cr.MK or as 2MK
Tekken uses numbers to refer to each limb:
1 left hand
2 right hand
3 left leg
4 right leg
So notation might look like this "db.2,1,2" referring to holding down back and pressing 2, followed by 1 and 2 in quick succession for this Dragunov string.
A more street fighter specific example, more commonly spoken then written, are these terms in place of light, medium, heavy
Light Punch - "Jab"
Medium Punch - "Strong"
Heavy Punch - "Fierce"
Light Kick - "Short"
Medium Kick - "Forward"
Heavy Kick - "Roundhouse"
So you might hear "crouching medium kick" referred to as "Low Forward"
No form of notation is best, just use what the person you are communicating with understands best. The goal is to communicate effectively.
