It’s kind of unreal how little information the game actually gives you. We aren’t told the magnitudes of any buffs, we aren’t told how damage is calculated, we aren’t told how certain buffs interact, etc. A newer player who doesn’t delve into wikis are going to have an infinitely more difficult time getting a grasp on the mechanics because of this.
@ivanbluecool

@@blurb9319 its because the developers didn't expect the game to survive this long which is why it was so badly made in the first place. Trying to clarify the significance of supereffective mod (also called anti trait) and power mod Example of supereffective mod is Euryale's NP against male, and for power mod is Castoria S3 giving 50% special ATK against thereat to humanity enemies Euryale NP works as follows: Base multiplier is 1200% (post upgrade) If target is male it get further amplified by 250% at NP5, or simple term, 2.5x Total damage would be 1200% x 2.5 = 3000% If target is not male but threat to humanity, her NP damage becomes as follows 1200% + (0.5 x 1200%) = 1800% If target is male and threat against humanity, her NP damage becomes as follows: (1200% + (0.5 x 1200%)) x 2.5 = 4500% Hope this helps in giving more perspective on why supereffective mod is busted with correct trait

The formulas are right but unless I'm the dum dum here the math is: 1200% + (0.5 x 1200%) is 1800% instead of 1600% and (1200% + (0.5 x 1200%)) x 2.5 is 4500% instead of 4000% thanks for the fomulas anyway, they are the important stuff

Wont tell you exact percentage of charge. Have emiya half explain traits. Keep adding specific traits to one off or time characters. Give medusa and co a better stun but never actually show it off much. Fgo developers were lucky the ip was so strong to survive this long to get away with basically everything messy that could be fixed. I mean even the advanced quests could have been a great way to show traits or damage mods and such with enemies having more damage against earth by def buff the other types.

I understand the misunderstanding. Every other modifier is + or - some percentage, like a NP damage up of 80% is an additional 80% on the base, aka 180% times the damage. I guess since Super Effectiveness stands on its own and only multiplies, they wrote it as a multiplier since you never need to add any value to it.

You all give the numbers, but I always get a bit lost on how to interpret them because of not knowing how they are calculated. Thanks for the awesome video!

It doesn't help that the game is woefully unhelpful by using "Special Attack" for both pmod and SE. The Classic Jack vs Carmilla example: - Jack: Apply Special Attack [Female] status to yourself (1 turn) - Carmlla: Deal significant Special Attack damage to a single [Female] enemy. Even in current NA, Archetype Earth "Deal heavy Special Attack [Chaotic] damage to all enemies"
@RogueIRL23

So which is pmod and which is SE?
@Byssbod
3 ай бұрын
Applying it for 1 turn is the clue that it's a power mod and not a SE multiplier. Since it lasts the whole turn instead of just the np, you can conclude it's active for face cards. So then you conclude it's power mod. Carmillas only applies to the NP so you conclude it's SE. But yes the communication is absolutely terrible
@TokuHer0

@@RogueIRL23 Easiest way: If you see a buff indicator (whether on the Servant or in the icons next to the damage), it's pmod. SE only applies on NP and it just happens, the most you get is the O.C. indicator. Since Jack gets the buff icon, her's is pmod

Super Effective is easy enough to understand, but I still don't understand Power Mods, Special Attacks, and Arash/Chen Gong/Bhima's additional OC damage.
@oomfie_rhine
3 ай бұрын
I can only answer the last one of the three since I’m only experienced in that part(hell, bhima I’m only guessing with near zero experience) Arash’s oc effect is that he does another instance of np damage, which has the scaling specified(on wiki) or sth So example if he does 600% scale normally and oc2 gives like 200% more, the 200% extra shot will show up as a seperate damage instance from 600% main np Chen gong’s oc effect has the extra damage from oc go directly into his own np, so you can’t just double the amount of hits you get from np using overcharge Bhima I haven’t seen enough showcases, but from what I remember, if he used an oc’d np, the extra damage will be done during an extra animation, after which the main animation will play with the main np’s damage TL;DR arash and bhima’s oc damage has another instance, chen gong’s oc damage scaling adds into his base np’s scaling(no extra damage instance)
@mrsheldon9134

@@oomfie_rhine Hmmm??? No I'm pretty sure Chen Gong's DOES give more overkill on OC2 and higher, as long as it triggers. I'm currently farming Saber gems and the refund he gets on the Dioscuri varies massively depending on whether his additional damage is triggered. Without it he gets like 30-40% but with it it shoots up to 70+%.

@@mrsheldon9134 hmm maybe that’s the case then, last time I even used chen gong with oc was a while ago so maybe they just did it so that he got more np gain within the same hit count or sth, thanks

I just don't understand why this type of information is NOT IN THE GAME. Seriously, if you're not willing to go after third-party sources or guides you won't know how half the game's mechanics work and you'll be left relying on trial and error (Which will cost you Stamina since the game doesn't give you anything back if you lose or leave the battle) to know things like how much Charge an NP Battery gives or whether or not an enemy has a certain attribute.
@JAMllostthegame

Agreed. Would be nice to actually see those numbers, and especially when leveling up skills, it would give a more direct sense of accomplishment. The only reason I can think this stuff is hidden is because they don't want to overwhelm players with information (easily fixable with a glossary or other index menu of sorts). Because at the end of the day, Fate is a popular franchise that will draw in players of different types, and not everyone is trying to min-max this game, which is understandable. Funny thing, that Special Attack effect is actually mentioned in the tips they show in loading screens, and it's how I learned that exists lol.

Before I go on a totally wrong rant and embarrass myself ima ask something, the numbers for the servant skills (exact np charged, how much percentage of attack or defense you are getting, etc.) that you can see in the wiki does the game just not show you any of them or am I just an idiot and can’t find them?

Is it me or is the displayed math at the start wrong? For the SE damage it is only multiplying the NP damage bonus from oberon, not the base damage so it is missing +50%, and should be 290% extra damage total(or a 3.9 multiplier). I am not insane right?
@NoxarBoi
3 ай бұрын
Yeah, you’re right. ([Base damage] + [Extra NP damage) x [SE] = (1 + 1.6) x 1.5 = 2.6 x 1.5 = 3.9 times or 390% of the damage, which is a +290% bonus on the base damage.
