EV cars. Just no. Too expensive period. They all need to be 50% less and charging costs lowered to be useful, and the average 170 range. Well its getting there but still should be near 300 to be truly useful. Oh and OCD looking at your battery levels kills any fun completely.

£753 for leasing? With whom? I lease mine (2021) for £273 p/m. I’ve just had the first service which was £75 and insurance was £250 pa with a multi-car policy (LV). The cable comes as standard with the car, so has nothing to do with ONTO. Unless you’re doing big mileage and only use the free charging, £500 p/m is OUTRAGEOUS.

@@AutoSocialUK but not all by a long shot. My problem is it’s just a rental. It’ll never feel like “home” for want of a better word. I grew up in a time where “personalising” your car (also hotting up) was just what you did. Someone else sets the rules for you to borrow their car with these. It’s one thing to lease a company car but my personal car is “My Personal Car”. Love your reviews by the way.

The problem with EV's is the time taken to recharge. If you manage to find a public charger and there are a couple of people in the queue in front of you, at 35-45 minutes to get a decent charge then you are going to have a lot of hanging around. As more people get EV's this will only get worse as expanding the charging network will struggle to keep pace. Think I'll give it a few years in the hope battery technology improves or they ditch EV's in favour of hydrogen.

While it is a problem if you are looking to do long range journeys. It certainly is not when for example driving to work each day. Because assuming work is within a 10-30 mile distance then charging should not be an issue. As you would top up each night the car at home/ on street or off street if you have that, ready for the next day as you would of course have only used roughly 15-25% of its total range. Does that make some sort of sense?
@robsmall6466

@@itechtalk03 Problem is a lot of people in large parts of the UK do much more than that in order to find reasonably paid work. Add any children to the mix ( errands in the evening ) or diversions on the way to and from work. Off street parking is not there for a lot of people. Terraced housing and no driveways. Petrol, diesel, hybrid, electric and hydrogen should of been allowed to coexist but no

I do nearly double the mileage every month, I paid just over £6000 for my car when I bought it 11 years ago, I own my car, the cost of diesel and insurance still works out less than leasing, I don't have to pay road tax, my service costs are around £200 a year, and my car is still under warranty. I don't like the Idea of screens, I prefer proper clocks and buttons, I know when to use my lights, wipers etc, I don't need my car to do it for me. I like the look of the Fiat 500, but most of my time is spent on the motorway so it probably wouldn't be any good for my use, an electric vehicle for my use would probably cost around £6/700 a month, more than I paid for my mortgage when I had one, if you don't mind outlaying that sort of money every month, leasing is a great thing, but if, like me, you like to know what you have earned and what goes out every month and know that if something goes wrong that you don't have to cater for that extra £6/700 a month as well as finding money for the important thing that has gone wrong at home, or worse, the loss of a job or the rising cost of living, and you earn enough to afford this, it could be a good idea. For me personally, I like to own my own vehicles, not the bank or leasing company

I think that is a fair assumption Richard, that’s why I try to make a lot of this about the car too ☺️ Tbf I think if leased a new fiat 500e it would be £350, then the insurance on top and charging (if I didn’t get a home charger) the cost is about right. I don’t think there is too much that could ‘go wrong’ if that makes sense ☺️

Well as DVLA have banned me from driving until I get my eyes operated on, to remove my Cataracts and seeing I have sold my Fiesta which would have lain unused for 6 months, I might give Onto a serious thought, as over all their pricing is fair and their range of cars impressive, depending on the type of car needed and time of year. Summer I'd say can be a bit over thought with longer daylight hours allowing driving to be used up so that the 750 mile range is adhered to. Cheers Tish - oh and I have re-subscribed to your channel.

Hi Tish , i borrowed one for a day when my car was in for a service , i was impressed with how easy it was to drive apart from the first time i hit the brake pedal lol it was better than the Abarth for instant braking ...threw me forward but once i got use to that , it was a fun little car , the infotainment was much better than i expected , quality of the interior was good also .With it built on a completely new platform i think they did a good job on a city car that is electrified . They are a bit pricey as i looked at the top spec "La Prima" which if i was going to have one it would be that with the opening roof too was around 32k , but it will be interesting to see what you think after 1 month , enjoy the journey 😃
