Just the info I needed. Thanks so much. Wish you had used a PC, but I guess it will work the same as on a PC.

Hello Ian, your video was great, just the item I needed. being my first try being IT-ish, the Fideco Adapter matched my exact needs. my old HD is from 2010, I want to transfer to a SONY 6TB Raid - this look like the one to get, now off to Amazon. Cheers from Arkansas, USA -

No check for Malware or Viruses? Did you check the WD Drive with an active powered USB Controller to be sure its the Drive damaged or just the USB delievers not enough Power to get the Drive spinning up?

I bought one of these thinking I could burn audio CD's for my CD player with an old IDE cdrom drive. I have a laptop running Linux. The laptop won't boot with this device plugged in to usb, even though it has it's own power supply. I can plug the thing in after boot, but nothing comes up. I was expecting to be able to put a CD in and something would happen, but no. The old CD drive spins up, but I can't see anything on the desktop, and I can't find anything in /dev. Don't suppose you know why?

What will be the situation if my old SATA drive doesn’t work, or there’s another software to extract your old data from a broken hard drive ?????

I replaced my original internal 250gb sata hdd with a 500gb sata Lenovo G555 (just for the kids to play on Roblox) and I'm having difficulties atm, all the power buttons light up except the HD one, (Black Screen and won't turn on) can I take out the internal drive and work it off an adapter like the one shown in your video.

Hi Ian, you mentioned software that you use for recovering data. I have a Drobo Beyond Raid drive array I want to recover data from. Do you have any suggestions on software I could use?
@FrimleyComputing
Жыл бұрын
Hi Brian, The following software supports Drobo, BUT I've not personally used it so no idea how good it is: www.ufsexplorer.com/ufs-explorer-raid-recovery/ Here's the actual instructions on recovering data: www.ufsexplorer.com/articles/how-to/recover-data-drobo/ Hope it works, otherwise you could send it off to Fields Data Recovery - I've used them in the past but you'll be looking at around £2k with that option.

@@CommanderTato It should work with any sized SATA drive that uses the SATA standard, but I've not tested with with drives over 4TB.

Hey do you think this would work for a dead hard drive, my hard drive died today and I want to see if I can get my files onto another disc drive
@FrimleyComputing
3 жыл бұрын
If the drive spins and it's not stuck (i.e. clicking repeatedly) then you should be able to access the data using this. If the disk drive is physically damaged or the controller is faulty then it's doubtful you'll recover any data.

It's not able to read 3.5 sata drive. Most likely it's AMP's not enough for that.
@FrimleyComputing

You need to make sure that you have the external power adapter plugged in to the device and the device switched on. It will not spin up a 3.5" drive unless it has power. Once you've added the power then 3.5" drives spin up and can be read without problems.

@@FrimleyComputing if i use external power from other source, i can't use this device at all. Because power and sata cable are closely coupled with each other. Hope it may clear the issue.

I plugged in an old drive and the computer doesn't even see it? I know it worked several months ago when I tested that old PC. Now I don't have an old monitor anymore (the old tube kind) so I can't check it again. I assumed this thing would work with it (b/c it's a supported type). Nope, doesn't seem to be able to see old drives like it claims. Very disappointed.

I bought the same one, and a new 2TB HDD, it doesn't recognize it. We're you able to make it work?
