Description: Steel fibers are typically used to impart tensile strength and toughness to ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC), allowing for new member geometries and potential reductions in reinforcing steel bars. To fully realize these benefits, the fibers must be located and oriented as designed direction. This presentation will discuss the principles behind a non-destructive method based on magnetic inductance to measure the fiber orientation and content, how it can be applied in the field, and show the results of field application on structural members.
