We enjoyed a visit to the Fife Heritage Railway at Leven which runs on standard gauge tracks originally from an old British Rail marshalling yard.
There are many things to see and do at the railway - enjoy a short train trip in a restored Norwegian Coach hauled by an industrial locomotive, drive a real loco yourself, take a tour of the workshop to see restoration works in progress or simply walk around the yard to see the various items of rolling stock and chat to the volunteers. There are also special events such as the Classic Car Rally on the day we were there. Add in lovely woodland walks and of course the tearoom!
The railway sits alongside the new Leven railway line which is being restored for opening in Spring 2024.
If you’d like to support the railways restoration and enhancement efforts please consider donating via their website as it’s great to have a quality railway attraction at the end of the line at Leven!
This visit was on 25th June 2023.
