Daniel...good to hear from you...there's not a whole lot we can do about the weather, so we just keep pushing forward...all the trees are making a comeback, so that's a good thing....have a great growing season.

I love the Strawberry Fig jam so much also. In fact, had some this AM on my toast. I can eat it out the jar! LOL I have to make some every year also. So easy to make too. My tree is loaded with new figs coming out~so I better get ready. I can usually pick here starting 1st of July.

So sorry that all your trees took a beating. You have such a great variety of figs. They are looking content now. Not sure if you remember that I had that huge (15-20yrs old?) Fig. I am about 100 miles from LSU. I had heard of the LSU one but never seen one anywhere. I will take a video of my huge fig tree tmr. Thanks for sharing your trees & look forward to the updates.

Hi John...I live in zone 6b, central N.J....the large tree is an Ischia Green, and I think between the winter protection, and the age of the tree(7yrs. old), that it has a better chance than the younger trees(1 and 2 yrs. old)...from what I understand some of the most cold hardy fig trees are Marselles Black VS, LaRadek's EBT, also Bayenfiege Violette, and even Hardy Chicago will serve you well...all four also produce nice tasting figs.

Hannah...all my in ground fig trees, including Lady Of The Night, are all wrapped and insulated every winter, but with the cold winters that we have been having, they still suffer some die back each year...the good news is that they all make a remarkable come back each growing season, and by the end of the summer they are all looking beautiful, and are producing delicious figs.

I have always been under the assumption that Bensonhurst Purple is synonymous with Chicago Hardy.

Do you ever share your fig cuttings? If so, I'd like to buy some.

I'm sorry your figs died back, in ground I lost alma 100% and had die back from montruse, VDB, LSU purple, and a few others. our lowest temp this winter was around 19F so 95% of the fig trees where unscaved. You'll like Hardy chicago it grows great and you'll have little to no die back in winter. The Mar vs black is also very hardy and will have little to no die back in your zone 6b. The burpee everbearing is said to be BT along with many of the dwarf figs offerd by mail order companies.
