Dr. Nusbaum began his emergency career as a volunteer firefighter with the Bryn Mawr Fire Company in Bryn Mawr, PA while attending Haverford College. He subsequently attended Georgetown University School of Medicine, completed a residency in Emergency Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital in NYC, fellowship in Emergency Medical Services at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, and MBA at The Katz School of Business at Pitt. He served as medical director for several ground EMS agencies throughout Western PA, and flew as a flight physician for STAT MedEVac. In 2021 he joined the faculty of the University of Maryland as an Assistant Professor, working clinically in the Emergency Department. He continues to spend most of his time with local emergency responders, serving as the Medical Director of the Baltimore County Fire Department, Assistant Medical Director for the Baltimore City Fire Department, and Assistant Medical Director for the University of Maryland ExpressCare Critical Care Transport Service.
