Brandon Figueroa faced off against Raul Chirino in a scheduled 6-round bout in the Super Bantamweight division Tuesday, February 21st, 2017 at the Silver Street in Houston, TX. This fight was broadcasted live as part of the Premier Boxing Champions series, on FS1.
With each victory added to his record, Figueroa uses each fight as an avenue to create a name for himself after following in the steps of his hard-hitting brother, Omar Figueroa.
Figueroa brought his A game and set the tone for tonight’s fight but he didn’t do so without a determined Chirino countering his powerful offerings. Chirino opened up the fight challenging Omar with fiery left hooks but they seemed to be of little worry to Figueroa, as he responded early on via visibly painful body shots.
By round 3, Figueroa could sense Chirino’s energy and tenacity dropping at a rapid past and utilized that to his advantage by continuing to walk him down with a flurry of his powerful blows to the body.
Seemingly responsive and in pain, Figueroa was able to bring Chirino to his knees twice, only for the second time to be his final position for the night as he removed his mouth piece, symbolizing to judges that he had fought the good fight and had nothing left. Figueroa closed in on Chirino by way of TKO in the 4th round.
