I'd say today they would just pour the wax in a Mould with the string in the middle? Pretty cool simple hitch though!

Hello there Mr. Jonny Debt: you've made a very interesting video today! From the reading of the Ashley Book of knots, to the story of dipping candles,😊 I've never made candles, but plan to in future. That part intriguing about how folks used the figure 8 knot for candle wick dipping, I also enjoyed the Figure 8 slip knot, WELL DONE my friend!!👍. Oh sorry if I reaped myself, get so many comments I sometimes loose track. That damn cargo net, wish I had never done that one ;-) I am going to see if I can get a rope supplier to sponsor me to make one!
