Your best bet is to head on over to the M9 thread on head-fi and request it there. But there really is no guarantee because if the app itself is too demanding on the system (keep in mind that the M9 runs a CPU and ram designed for a smartwatch) then FiiO will probably not whitelist it

@@theosamma3a60 Thanks for your reply. I've spoken to them and they're testing the APK to see if it's possible to add it to the whitelist. On a separate issue, have you experienced slow audio? In other words, I can be listening to several tracks on Tidal, for example, and most of them will play ok but then for no reason the next track will sound like it's playing in slow motion. Skipping tracks doesn't do anything and the only way to fix it is to reboot the device. This happens on aptxHD through my headphones and SBC when the M9 is connected to my car infotainment system. I can't confirm whether it happens when using a cable. If it's something that happens with all M9s then I'll put up with it but, if not, it's going to have to go back under warranty.

@samma3afans
4 жыл бұрын
For sound quality another device+Q5s would be better... But it will only sound best when the Q5s is directly connected to that other device (ie USB).... So you'd have to decide if you prefer only slightly better sound quality with a much bigger overall device, or just get the M9 which would be smaller and more convenient. Personally, I'd go for the Q5s and use it in BT mode when I want convenience, and a direct connection when I want better quality.

Well, would there be any point in getting an additional DAP then? You might as well just use your phone as the main interface to connect the Q5s to (whether direct or via BT). But then again, if you do get an additional DAP then that would also give you the versatility of using an even more compact device should you want or need to. In that case, I really think anything more than the M6 would be pretty pointless.

I'm not sure what the reviewers problem is but I am right handed and when I hold my cell phone it's always in my left hand. I also have an old Sony MP3 player which I always hold in my left hand. I guess over time right-handers can become ambidextrious which is FIIO's hidden agenda ?? I agree with the reviewers find on bugs, FIIO should work towards resolving them. Also what is the point of a lock screen ? .. it's a MP3 player, not a smart phone. Maybe they have a lock screen in the event that someone finds your phone they can't get into your dick pics.
@theosamma3a60

If you think back to when mobile phones were smaller...did you use both your hands to work it, or just your dominant hand? See, over time, the devices got bigger and bigger (due to larger screens), too big to comfortably use one-handed. It's something we got used to without realising it. Fast forward to the M9 which has a a size that's perfectly fine for one-handed use, but a design which is a bit too awkward for that. Anyways, my issue with the size shouldn't be taken as a flaw that makes the M9 not worth buying, but rather just something I wish FiiO had considered in order to make it an even better product.

(in that case I would also upgrade to a balance cable as well.)
@theosamma3a60
5 жыл бұрын
@@kreatos10 Honestly, the thing that would make the biggest difference would be the headphones/IEMs. The F9-series are fairly good for the price, but you can get much better options and ones that will offer a bigger bang-for-buck improvement to the sound. FiiO's current flagship, the FA7 is really good although it has a slightly dark sound due to an elevated level in the lower and mid-bass region, but it's way better than the F9 in terms of sound quality. If you really do want to get a different source device, then the M6 won't be an option for you if you really want to go to balanced cables. But, as far as balanced is concerned, it doesn't *really* improve the sound quality. Usually it's just that it provides more power, which can improve the sound if the headphones/IEMs need it, but low impedance balanced armature IEMs really don't benefit from this.

I particularly liked your insight into the UX/software bugs versus a dedicated Android phone and the objective consideration of whether the M9 represents an upgrade versus other well-known audiophile-grade DACs versus a user looking to boost the quality of their daily driver DAP. I would love a review of the Fiio M11 or a round-up of sub-£500/$600 DAPs. The M9 seemed to tick all my boxes as a Sony WH-1000XM2 headphone owner, but I'd love a comparison of the CPU and overall UX and audio performance versus the M11 or similar devices offering LDAC and AptX HD support. Great content!
