Sandbank is my favorite place in the whole world, lovely to see your recent videos of it! We used to go all the time to the timeshares, for many great years, really miss that place and hope that it gets sorted out soon so that we can go back... last time we were there it was the tail end of a cyclone and my kite surfing/foiling partner was in heaven, followed by surfing with Kai Lenny when the wind dropped - bliss! We are back in Fiji soon but up to Barefoot Manta this time, (minus the 7 bags of gear and boards that normally travel with us) fingers crossed we can go back to the timeshares at Malololailai one day. In the meantime we are reminiscing over your posts!

Why are these children wearing masks outside in the fresh air ?, also with the ability to also keep a safe distance from each other? There is no need whatsoever...

Those were the rules in Fiji at the time. At that stage the main island was dealing with a major outbreak while the outside islands were still free of covid but due to limited health facilities in those areas, that’s the precautions they put in place to try and stop transmission to their vulnerable communities. Considering all of those kids are boat kids and practically living 24/7 in the fresh air and ocean, it’s not a big deal to wear a mask for an hour a day.

@@change3959 so are you concerned about the kids wearing masks or the fact that we sailed to Fiji at all? All I know is Fiji welcomed yachts under strict rules to keep everyone safe in the process while also getting some form of tourist income to help keep their economy alive and we were happy to adhere to the rules. Not just by wearing masks but by staying out of villages and mostly staying in our own bubble. Not a single sailor brought covid into Fiji, just shows you how well thought out the Blue Lane initiative is/was.
