STORYLINE :
A verdict in the first trial of the former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein is expected to be delivered by a court in Baghdad on Sunday.
It is probably the biggest event in Iraq's political life since the fall of his Baath Party regime in 2003 after the US led invasion and subsequent occupation of the country that year.
1982.
Proceedings have been plagued by delays and chaotic outbursts.
Three of the defence lawyers have been assassinated since the trial began just over a year ago.
