Holy crap that chop/miter saw is terrifying! Nice work with the cabinet/cart, been on the lookout for a suitable filing cabinet for a while since looking at all these great videos of people converting them.

FWIW: That is a cabinet designed to hold IBM style punch cards from the dawn of the computer age. They are well made and frequently available cheaply because the age of the punch card has long gone: Somewhat like library catalog cabinets (another option with smaller drawers) I personally have a 10 drawer punch card style cabinet that I store hardware in.

Great work. The only problem is caster's cost a fortune in my city or on Amazon

Ya they are pricey, you could just buy the wheels and make the support part by bending up some thick sheet metal.

A yard sale Stainless steel handle works well and is often $2-3. Also wow them casters look like the cost twice what you paid for the cabinet.
@MetalSmithBrazil

The castors actually cost pretty much the same as I paid for the cabinet. Thanks for watching!!

Hey bro! How does the lock system work? I want to make the key for my toolbox.
@MetalSmithBrazil
3 жыл бұрын
The lock tumbler turns a rod which lifts a bar- this bar has slots that align with each drawer so that when it's lifted it holds each drawer closed. Most tool boxes have a similar system. Thanks for watching!

Not sure on the exact name for this style, but the drawers in this one had inserts to hold letters.

After a quick search this looks to be a "card" style filing cabinet. Thanks for the video and for the comment about it holding letters as that helped me to figure out what they are called rather quickly.

In the dark ages of computer development (1960s-1970s) computer "programs" were run using a series of perforated cardboard cards. The primary producer of "computers" then was IBM and the cards became known as IBM cards. The file cabinets to store the cards in order were thus IBM Card cabinets. They are well made and ideal for hardware and tool storage!!
