Aaaagh yes I love bilo bilo!! My grandma called it tambo tambo (I’m assuming that’s what it’s called in Ilocano), and she would add guava (both pink and white) and taro along with everything else. It’s sooo good!

I have fond memories of helping my mom, titas, & Lolas make this. So glad I hung out in the kitchen with them as a little girl. No recipes were written, just passed down by doing it. Gutom na naaman ako.

Here's a tip for making it ahead: Roll the sweet rice balls and place them on a cookie sheet. Dust them with extra sweet rice flour so they don't stick. Freeze the sweet rice balls on the cookie sheet and after they harden you can place them in zip-lock bags and back in the freezer. When you're ready to use, boil them in the water and sugar. Add the coconut milk once the balls float to the top. Then add the rest of the ingredients. The rice balls can last in the freezer up to 2 months.

This video brings out my childhood memories! we (me and my cousins) always help our lola prepare this. I miss those times we spend merienda and kwentuhan together. Now, my lola is in heaven and my cousins are far away. If we could only bring back time :(

I'm West Indian and South American and my mom used to make sago porridge, just water, a cinnamon stick, a couple cloves and freshly ground nutmeg, all the time when we needed a break from cornmeal, farina or oatmeal.

this is the best snack during cold rainy days. without all the sugar, all ingredients are actually healthy. full of rootcrops and plantane. This is something other countries are missing or is it just me. edited: this is definitely not the pinoy bilo bilo filipinos know. where are the sweet potato, plantane, ube and the other root crops?

That's what my late mother taught me to add a pinch of salt to bilo bilo/binignit to enhance or balance the flavors. This is one of my favorites too! 👍 Goodwork Jen! #drooling

Bilo2 counterpart in Malaysia is Cendol.. same coconut, but with Gula Melaka, and those balls exchangable with cendol’s green “worms” made from those big balls, but coloured green

Depends in geography. Ilocanos call it tambu-tambong. Others call it ginataan or bilo-bilo.
