I watched Hyatt single-handedly beat Alabama with his TD catches playing for Tennessee. Did I think that made him an NFL star? No. But for Schoen to trade up in the 3rd to grab this guy, and him not even being part of the game plan for targets is just strange.

@6:58 go back to the start of the play. DJ looked Hyatt way first, again his release is dirt. So when the ball is snapped and DJ sees that Hyatt didnt get off line clean, he just faster so he gets open eventually. But slayton had a great release so DJ knew he would be open and threw it to him. But DJ head went from Hyatt to Slayton. He started at Hyatt, but his release is why DJ looked the other way.

Be careful what you wish for. If you see Hyatt taking snaps over Darius AND targets over Nabers i guarantee NYG fans will be up in arms. We know he has talent. We know he has shown he can make huge plays. We also know he was drafted in the third round (and NYG staff was hyped to get him) for a reason. He is still young and needs some size to compete physically on play calls that expect him to be open. He also would do well with more time in the league, consistent positives will always be better than one-off big time plays.

He trusts nabers and slayton more on the long and intermediate, and from the slot/short everything is gunna be wan'dales way. Hyatt is best used as a decoy and occasionaly throw him a deep bomb to keep the defense honest. I really dont think he has much more upside than that, and thats not a bad thing I think he will eventually take a few of those occasional deep shots to the house. But he's a one trick pony and we have a really solid and effective core with nabers wandale and slayton. Hyatts biggest strength is manipulating the defense with his speed to allow the others to feast.All through of those guys have proven themselves as reliable, obviously jones is gunna look their way first. But Hyatt seems incredibly humble and willing to do whatever to win, and its undeniable The offense has benefited from his presence , even if he's not getting targets.

Unfortunately it's quickly becoming clear that Hyatt is a straight-line speed guy and that's it. His route running seems to be remedial and that's being polite and if you can't run sharp routes you simply aren't getting open in the NFL. His speed still can draw the safety over but he becomes useful merely as a decoy because the D in the NFL has alot more speed than they do in college and he is finding that he can't just get open running deep each time.
@bwill3734

This is the most he has on film this season. He had some opportunities to get the ball at least thrown his way but with nabers coming back his looks might lessen again. But every week he wont be facing a tarik woolen. Eventually he gonna be so open dj gotta hit him.
@edubtwo4613
Күн бұрын
The reason I say that is because there are times when even Theo is open, but he’s forcing it to Malik or Robinson. Saying that Malik was out last game he then went to someone he’s more comfortable with Slayton. He actually has way more time to scan the field to get more out of the place that are being called, but I think he has PTSD and just wants to get the ball out of his hands as fast as possible. It is working as a giants fan, I am super happy, but there are opportunities to stretch the field throwing the ball to other players and he just doesn’t see it.
@CYCO1631
Күн бұрын
Jones does need to start trusting the Usain Hyatt is going to get under that ball on those deep posts. Give the kid a chance! They should dedicate half a practice to just doing that. Jones needs to ID exactly how fast Hyatt is, and where the placement should be to hit him in stride. Almost guarantee, when Maholms and Hill were practicing in Kansas City, they had to have spent days just practicing that throw and catch. Which is why it looked like a Madden Cheat Code.

Honestly, I don’t think he is struggling. I think you’re wrong. I believe Daniel Jones only looks at his first read most of the time and doesn’t have confidence in the line enough to get the ball down the field. That’s why most of the passes are either overthrown or underthrown when throwing down the field. he just wants to get the ball out as fast as possible so he looks at intermediate routes predetermines where the ball is gonna go before the snap

It's not that the QB doesn't trust him it's that his route tree is trash. That was the biggest knock on him coming into the league and it seems he still hasn't improved. That's on coaching, they're not trying to develop Hyatt. Everybody trying to paint a narrative, but it should be obvious that Jaylen Hyatt isn't struggling, its just that Daboll isn't using him, and Daniel Jones isn't looking his way. If he's a deep threat, why try to make him what he's not at the moment, use him what he's good at doing. Go deep at least 3 times a game.
