Don't forget to have a clear way to label all your gear, so "accidents" don't happen and it walks away.

Love my Brother P-touch. It's funny, the first time you label something you get all excited and start labeling everything you can get your hands on. I also made brand stickers with my logo and some patches for fabric stuff.

I'm looking at buying my first monitor (Godox GM55) so that I don't have to use the screen on my A7IV and first light (Aputure NOVA P300c RGBWW LED Panel). I can get a really good deal on the light, and I'm sure it'll help me a lot and stay with me for a while. My question is, should I invest in the light first or a monitor?

That’s a really good question, if I were you, I would really evaluate the kind of work that I’m doing and question whether the light is going to help me right now or not. The camera monitor is automatically going to Megan Hansen the production of everything you do but it won’t have a drastic change like having a really good light. But if you’re in situations, where is you’re not really using a lot of lights or setting up lights and I would say definitely go with the monitor.

I love how almost all of these items are crazily expensive items. This seems like a ploy just to make money from your affiliate links. Most poeple who start out don't have the money to invest in the good kit so will invest what they can with what they havel, where they are. Upgrading incrementally is just life. Of course when you own the nice car, for instance, you wish ytou had got it sooner, but situation, and budget probablly prohibitted it.

Dude are you for real? I make pennies off of affiliate links and I hate to say it but these items on this list are not that expensive most of this gear is pro-Sumer level stuff. Wonder why people have the need to say things like this. Of course I make a little bit of money off of the affiliate links but it’s definitely nothing substantial and definitely not enough to lie to my people over. Seriously go online and research how much you make off of affiliate links it’s hilarious.

For tripods, you actually want something with weight. That helps prevent vibrations or unwanted movement. If you can afford 2, get a lightweight for travel and a heavy duty for jobs…

I'm so glad you brought up the extension cord and a good c-stand as one of the most important gear for a filmmaker. Yep, I was also forced to shoot near the wall outlet💀 and I used to use a dinky light stand for my lighting setup and it wasn't pretty. I'm glad I bought my self a c-stand to improve my lighting placement🙌🏻 Thank you for another banger video Alex! Keep rocking it🔥🔥🔥

The small rig tripod is not the tripod you want to get! The head is nowhere near the professional Standart. Spend more and keep it for 10 years instead of buying a new one every two years

Wish I knew about the heavy duty smallrig one. I bought their cheaper offering which is still a great tripod but, it cracked the leg on the first flight I put it on. Wish the bags were more padded.

Yeah man unfortunately I learn pretty quickly that you have to travel with hard cases. Sorry to hear about that. If we do a giveaway on a tripod, you’ll be the first to know.

Good general advice, but when it comes to tripods, it really depends on the camera that is used. That small rig is still an entry level tripod that might serve you well with a small mirrorless rig. You can't really dial in the speed of a tripod with a single friction lock that that one provides, premium tripods have pan and tilt speeds, counter modes that allow you to truly balance the camera.
