There is so much missing from the films being made today. It is a waste of time, money, and eardrums to go to the cinema. The sounds in the cinema are ridiculously high and loud. The acting is atrocious and talentless and what you might save on a matinee ticket is devoured by a small bag of popcorn. I’m happier staying home and watching these old films.

Mary, I agree! Today’s movies have a couple in bed almost immediately. And the vocabulary is the constant use of the Fword. And if there’s a pretty female nobody can say, “there goes a real woman” then here comes some lost soul saying, what do mean by a real woman! And I say, the woman God created and biological science supports!!

Definitely, but these old films also have really awful, stress inducing background music! It's eating at my sanity as badly as the contemporary, totally unnecessary background racket, which is not even music. Actors could really act those days!

Crazy YT captions: 10:26, he says "Gosh..."- Cap says, "Damn it!" 1:08:45- He says, "He was gonna shove me off (the roof)- Cap says, "He was gonna f*** me up!" Somebody (auto-caps) has a dirty mouth. This is a way sappy film, with everything respectable, squeaky clean and wholesome, but it's better than the bad stuff they show today (IF you don't need captions, that is-lol). It's entertaining and has a better plot than many B-movies. Enjoy.

The son sounds like a robot. They leave the door to shed open. Not smart. Mother being called princess by children is bizarre. There are other things that didn't make sense. I guess I am too logical. Ditto, but I learned as a child that telling people what you foresaw in a dream will get ya called Freak- even when things happened exactly as I said they were in my 'dream'. Even a few teachers were so shocked when I told a girl her arm would be broken on the playground by the new kid- which he did- a teacher said it was "Unnatural" and I was a Psychic. Not true, but I kept my mouth shut after that.

Great flick. Even though we know who the bad guys are, the danger and suspense are palpable. Great cast with excellent performances by all. A rather unassuming young man for the hero can only be pulled off in a well written and acted drama. The lack of special effects and the genuineness of the characters is refreshing in many of these old movies. The good Doctor friend - Ben the butler - Paul's girlfriend - the elegance of his mom - the evil cunning of the villains and the supporting cast. Good ingredients = good soup.
